Democrats ARE the What Would Jesus Do party. |

We just don't have the official backing. But think about it.
We're cautious about (and in this most recent example, thoroughly opposed to) warfare and bloodshed.
We believe in helping those who are poorest amongst us to rise out of poverty.
We believe in healing our sick rather than letting the cost get in the way.
The truth is that the Democratic party agrees with the teachings of Jesus as a PHILOSOPHY. The Republicans only act like "Christians" on a couple of wedge issues (Prayer in School, Homosexuality, Abortion). Yet ironicly, all of those issues relate to Church doctrine, not actual Christian philosophy.
The problem is that we're smarmy about it. Look, I laughed the first time I saw a "Who Would Jesus Bomb?" poster. And we can chuckle about the irony all we want, but it only serves to alienate those moderate Christain voters that WANT a party interested in peace and charity, but can't reconcile that with the animosity that many of our own herd feel towards the Christian Right.
We need to start calling out these False Christians in the Republican party. They wheel out their faith whenever they think it will get them votes, they smile and say God Bless in front of the cameras, and then they turn around and cut medical benefits, cut welfare programs, and bomb the shit out of people who just barely had running water in the first place.
We need to start calling these people liars and false Christians right to their faces. Yeah, it's an ugly thing to do, but it's also the truth. They do it all the time to us, and we just take it. They questioned Kerry's right to take Communion, and no one said a word about it. The only thing these people worship is the Allmighty Dollar. And it's about time we exposed them as the Tin Pot Dictators of religion.

1. We need a Christian Left Movement. |
|
That's the only way to counter the Anti-Christian Right.

2. The biggest different between these fake Christians and real Christians |
|
is that real ones do what they can for their causes (proverty, the elderly) while the fake ones only use the issue as a wedge for their political gain. Abortion, Gay Marriage, ect will be around as long as it is politically rewarding.

call them the "christian WRONG"-
i've stopped calling myself a christian for the last few years- actually since Bush began calling himself one for 'political gain'-
i call myself a 'follower of Christ'
or maybe the "Rubuplican christian Reicht"
cause Jesus was a man of PEACE and non-violence-
they don't like hearing that, and point to interpretations of revelation where He supposedly will come back as a murdering furious avenger- but i thought God was the same, yesterday today and forever?????? stupid me-
judge them by thier fruit- and it's pretty rotten in washington right now

4. The faith-based versus the reality-based. They feel, we think |
|
and that's why they won.
They were able to use their code words to coneect on a visceral level, while we appealed to the intellect.
They voted with their so-called gut while we used our heads.
We need code words to get our message out on the same gut level they do.
They can get people sufficiently wokred up with meaningless lies like "The Democrats are going to take my guns away."
We need to get people just as worked up about "The Republicans are going to take my children away .

I say we should respond to any statement, question and allegation from the GOP with the 'who would Jesus bomb?' question. They cannot answer the question!
