new meme: Fundamentalist Christianity a "doomsday cult" |
|
We need to get this out again and again -- Fundamenalist Christianity isn't another "religion," like the Presbyterians or Methodists or the Jews or the Sufis or anyone else. They are, specifically, a "doomsday cult," who brainwash their minions, and seek to bring about the deaths of millions.
They have absolutely no validity as a "voice" in an actual democracy -- no more than any other doomsday cult awaiting a fiery death, a visit from a specific UFO, the vat of kool-aid, etc.
So, in every LTE, email to friends, phone-in to talk shows, we must nail these fanatics and their "doomsday cult." Jerry Falwell on CNN today? That was a cable network giving valuable time to a doomsday cultist, etc.
Language means something. The other side knows this. We can't wimp out on ours.

1. OOOOH! That is SO GOOD!!!!! |
|
It is, in fact, a doomsday cult. Worse, it's a doomsday cult in control of the most powerful government on the face of the earth.

"The TaliBornAgain" and "The Republican Hezbollah". There are a lot of Fundamentalists (about 40% in 2000) who are not bush* fans.

...and out of touch with the whole world these doomsday cultists in America are.
Of course, that would require alternate media channels, for starters...

I have born agains in the family and while I frequently want to throttle them (and yes even kill for a few days after the election) I dont want to see them classified in this way. I think we should be careful as (just like with anything else) there truly is a big range of values in this group of people.. some of them truly do represent what we would like to see in a good Christian and some clearly do a better job representing satan...

Short and nasty & true " Today the Death Cult bla bla bla " it is a better sound bite Doom Cult (not scary enough) they dumb down the language to thier advantage, now it's our turn because in order for them to get it,it has to be sound bite size.

|
...we just haven't turned it against the biggest offenders/practitioners here in the US of A, yet.
Though "death cult" ain't bad, either. Let's get 'em both out there!

16. I refer to it as a "death cult" myself. |
|
They have a fixation on what happens after death, to the exclusion of what is going on it their lives. That's why they're willing to sacrifice their jobs and their children's health care to get in good with God by voting for W.
That's why they're fixated on bringing death and destruction to Iraq.
They like to use the term "culture of life". I think "death cult" stands as the clearest contrast to that. I think the word "doomsday" has positive connotations for them.

20. I think the perfect way of describing fundamentalists |
|
is that they are dedicated more to the culture of christianity than the teachings of it. Need to find a good term to boil that down into a single phrase. It wouldnt sound immediately demeaning but would get the message across that they really don't follow the teachings of Jesus. Although I guess doomsday cult gets to the same point, but I think it would be dismissed easier. Kinda like that rule of debate, "the first person to compare his opponent to Hitler automatically loses."

They WELCOME nuclear events. They cheered 9-11 as the beginning of the end. They are crazed and they are Bush's REAL base that the media is too afraid to expose.

|
we are all being abused by the "crazy tyrant" of the Religious Right, but no one in the "family" will say it out loud.
Because then, you'd have to start changing things...
