Bev is great - but her site needs a "Makeover" & she needs to get |
|
someone a little more media savvy....After her site being down for awhile and now able to access it, the marketing/PR former self of me can't help but notice and think that in addition to making the fonts bigger and easier to navigate and find things, she needs it to have a little more - help....I'm not slighting Bev, she's a hero of mine and she is doing good work, important work, but she's a computer geek (I mean that affectionately) and not a marketing person. Even right now if you go to the site its got pictures of some of "computer nerds" who have been responsible for its certification/non-certification of the GEMs programs. While its cute and funny I guess in a computer hacker kind of way, one has to remember if Bev and all of us are trying to get this into the "mainstream" media and get the world paying attention, there needs to be a little more of a presentation to the world of internet folks who will have their first introduction to this topic when they go to her site. I have personally sent out emails to friends and family who have passed along her website...quite frankly, the feedback I've gotten has been mixed about their ability to "follow" the issue....With all the donations Bev has gotten recently, I'd like to suggest that she hire someone immediately to design a webpage with atleast some better interface and more friendly and easy to follow intro for the masses of new "to the topic" visitors. Thoughts DUers?
Note to Bev: I'll email you too with my thoughts on this...I think this would be something that would only be a bonus in helping spread the word and your good work.
:hi:

1. i support her but no one from her site answered my email ... |

don't know if anyone is home there and that site does need improvement. I didn't really like blackboxvoting.com but it looks better than the .org site ....

3. Tonight on Mike Malloy's radio show, |
|
they said that they're moving the website to a new internet service provider, so that should hopefully improve the availability of the site.

Seriously. Go to it. :-) I want a new stadium for the revolution, and Bev is heading it up. We need to build her a new one!

5. Me thinkey you right....I'm going to talk to Bev about this! |
|
Our team will need a new "Uniform" too (since we are on the baseball/sports analogy).... :hi:
:kick:
In all seriousness though, she really does need to make it more "user friendly" for both information dissemination and also credibility in communicating the message.

I agree with you, but you should see my website designs. I stink at it, otherwise I'd be volunteering. Can you help? (Presuming she wants help...)

8. Thanks! I used to get paid a lot for it...I'm not in Seattle anymore, but |
|
I know some good "Dems" up in Seattle that could very quickly put together a super professional site that is easy to navigate, hard to crash and gets the message out...
I really think this is critical for Bev to do ASAP....

9. Actually you're wrong - Bev's background is in PR |
|
She is not a computer geek, except for the steep learning curve she's been on since beginning work on this issue.
But of course I'm sure she'd love all the help she can get with the site. But I don't think there is any money to "hire" somebody.

11. "she's a computer geek and not a marketing person" |
|
that's funny. the opposite is true!
the current site, is in a bit of a stripped down mode following an attack. i suspect that right now they're just too busy with the massive FOIA project and other media obligations to focus on the cosmetics on the site.
