Ida Briggs, we need a status on our EFDAT project!
We have been working pretty hard to get election results by state and precinct for Ida. For those of you who want to help, check out this post:

Ida, can we have a list of what you still need? That would be great. We can post the states that are finished on this thread. The other thread is getting very, very long.

1. NORTH CAROLINA is DONE!
I have emailed a spreadsheet of votes by precinct for 2000 and 2004.

3. They haven't finished counting the "Provisionals" in NC, though....so
the numbers will be slightly off. I just got my raw precinct numbers last night....

2. WEST VIRGINIA is DONE!
Although I could only get totals by county, I did manage to get totals for 2000 and 2004. It has been emailed to Ida.

4. Recount laws, by state
And here are the recount laws. Note that in some states, you don't even have to be a candidate.

Here is a site for recount information, by state:

http://www.electionline.org/site/docs/html/recount_provisions_-_part_1.htm

Here is another site that has the specific law/codes for recounts by state:

http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/procedures_recount07.html

Some states are more open than others. But even in the states where it's tight, the point is not that only the presidential race can be recounted. Any race can. And if the totals are off, the whole authenticity of the election is gone.
