George Bush has divided this nation just where he wants it....
Forget all the "uniter, not a divider" bullshit. His entire poltiical philosophy is to divide and conquer. So long as he has the majority once it is divided, he is happy as a hog in shit. And that is what he has done. He has divided this nation in his favor. Screw everyone else. Either you are with him or you are against him. That is the reality of America in 2004. America has been snookered and is about to pay a heavy price. There's a lesson too late for the learning.

um... er...

Well, Russ Feingold is pretty cool.

I loved Paul Wellstone. Too bad he's dead.

Joe Biden has been showing some signs of life recently.

um...

Yeah. Now I feel even worse.

6. its not too late
we need to cultivate these people. we need to prop them up proudly and defiantly, and act as if they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, even if they aren't always, just like the repubs do. btw, i love obama but he needs clout, we need others, we cannot put all our hopes in him alone. e

12. Barack Obama
Is more than just a "black man." He's half-white, too. Illinois voters knew that, and that's why we were all so comfortable giving him 73% of the vote. (That and the fact that Alan Keyes was the alternative.)

Obama can't be confined to a racial category. He transcends racial categories. That's his appeal, and his importance, as a politician.

19. Okay, stop it.
"We can't run Barack Obama 'cos they won't like him in Alabama" is exactly the sort of thinking that got us where we are now. Red-state troglodytes aren't going to like whoever we run. And if we run some wishy-washy, safe, compromise candidate so that they'll hate us less in Alabama and Kansas, the only thing that will happen is that people who MIGHT have voted for us won't because they will see no compelling reason to do so.

Obama has the vision, the charisma, and the intelligence. He doesn't yet have the experience, but he will. Screw the racists, if he runs in '08 I will be behind him all the way.

2. we tried to warn them, I mean the bush republicans
now it is time to pay the piper and hunker down for what is coming is not nice...

By the way some ideaws, (Yes I started a thread but the more that see it the better)

Ok many are down and hoping that the electiions can be turend somehow by bbv.org, and I hope they could but I am thinking what else can we do

Ok, think back to oh... 1750, remember those wonderul days when King Goerge the Mad raelly started screwing the colonists over? Well they talked a lot among themselves

Here are soem of the things the colonists did

One thing that the coloniest cuold not do was make hand tools, or any other finished good, as any good mercantizle colony... you export raw material and import finsihed goods (Well with some exceptions such as horse shoes)

So what did our enterperising forefathers do? Yuo guessed it, some started making shovels... and this started hurtign the Empire

Others refused to play along and pay taxes, yuo know that old bit about no taxation, no representation, now this one is not one we can do right at the moment nor woudl I admise it

But we need to find the equivalent of shovels

SO first things first, BOYCOTT any known large entities, Yep Wallamrt comes to mind... gee I wonder why, so does Dell by the way.

Next, find a local community of stores et al that basically agree with yuo, and buy all YOUR basic needs Locally, keep it local folks.

Next for thanksgiving, want to send a message? buy chicken, not turkey, not ham, but chicken. It is cheaper, we truly cannot afford luxury foods and it will be a symbol to the powers that be if enough of us do it thjat turkey has to go on sale lcoally.

Christmas get creative if you absolutely need to give gifts , yuo could make them yourself or find a LOCAL craftsman... but whatever yuo do, do not buy into it... I intend to maybe send letters not cards, to the family, the e-cards though free to me, still pump money in.

Credit cards, GET OUT OF DEBT ASAP, it is healthy and the economy counts on you being on depbt, refuse to play that game.. after yuo do if your card is tied to the MBNA, cancel it and get anotehr one, preferably through a credit union... and pay as you go.

Ask your depresion era parents how to recycle everhingm, and start doign it, yep good for the environment but will reduce YOUR consumption as well.

Oh and before they burn the books, find a good copy of Ghahdi and of Martin Luther King's writings, preferably at a local used bookstore.

More ideas for peaceful resistance will be there.

Oh and remember this, whatever yuo do, KEEP IT LEGAL.

4. Then there's Karl Rove's Mantra -
Engulf - Devour - Control - Rule

Don't think for one second that shrub is doing this on his own. All orchestrated by Rove whose dream is a one party system. It is too late, I'm afraid.

23. Karl Rove????
What would happen if he disappeared???? Would the Republican party fall into shambles? I'm beginning to think he's the mastermind behind the neo-conformist movement.

5. I won't give Bush that much credit.
He's just the front that enabled Karl Rove to get into the White House. It's Lee Atwater/Karl Rove politics that capitalize on division, and the eventual retirement of Bush to Crawford won't change a thing, in itself.

Much work to do.

22. Doubt it.
Unless Rove turns his back on his staple constituency, the Religious Right*. I just don't see Rove being able to get the RR behind the more moderate Rove.

It's a possibility, but I would think Rove would hunt for another pseudo-messianic candidate.

* Not meant to imply all those having religious beliefs, or that atheistic Bush supporters cannot be found.

13. this is a class war between the neo-aristocratic oligarchs
and the rest of us.

They divide in order to conquer.

oldest strategy in the book.

they are quivering with glee as the "left" attacks the "right" and the peace advocates attack the hawks and the rational people attack the religiously insane and the anti-choice people attack the pro-choice people and the pacifists attack the gun nuts and everybody attacks the homosexuals and the ignorant attack the intellectuals.

We salivate on cue as they drain us of our property, our hope, our dignity and our freedom.

18. The reason for Blue States and Red States
is because Bush knows he can win with red states......

He has to divide us otherwise he can't win. He needs to make us FEAR one-another. He needs to make us mistrust one-another. He needs a "them-against-us" mentality.

This is a dangerous game because it may get out of hand. It may lead to violence against individuals and, eventually, against groups. If you don't believe it, just look at where the right-to-life movement is going. They're becoming more and more PHYSICALLY aggressive against anyone who opposes them....

20. We could cure all of this
if we embraced our ideals and realized that the populist part of the dem message will appeal to large swaths of the american public. And when Rush, Hannity, O'Lielly start screaming class warfare we proud lefties can say you're darn tootin' just like the class war you guys have been waging since Reagan. We would definitely need to lose the DLC first, though.
