Have you no sense of news judgment?

22. that's what I was thinking but no sarcasm because the
coverage of the murder case really does seem to take precedence and more news time is goven to it than Iraq.

8. Where can one find this so-called Arab network?
I really want to know what the hell is going on! This battle will ultimately decide the outcome of this war and its effect on America. It bothers me to see so little coverage on what may prove to be the most significant part of this war on terror.

31. You forgot the sarcasm tag
Ummmm...you were serious?

What in the world has convinced you that this battle is so all-fired critical? If the US, as expected, routs the miscreants from Fallujah, then everybody else will lay down their arms? Have you heard about violence proceeding apace in the rest of the country? And how in god's name will the result of this battle determine the effect on America.

And "what may prove to be the most significant part of this war on terror" is just beyond the pale on a couple of levels.

But you were just funnin' right?

7. The military's position
on not releasing the casualty reports is that they feel casualty numbers could fall into the hands of Fallujan rebels allowing them to increase the effectiveness of their battle tactics.

are contacted, but Centcom is not realing the official numbers to the general public...

However... the USA casualty counts from this operation appear to be between 10-20 KIA and 25-40 WIA.

27. Horsehockey
The decision not to release info like this is solely a political one. They don't want support for their search and destroy mission to disappear.

29. Yep, I know
Not really directed at you, I just hate military spokespeople and the smelly filth that issues from them. I have some rather personal reasons for that which don't need to be aired here but let's just say that I know they don't concern themselves with truth or sincerity. Everything they say is calculated for maximum benefit/minimum damage to their "mission".

it was an idiotic maneuver. warning everyone for 90 days. military just killing killing killing. blowing up mosques. taking over a hospital. impounding city's ambulances, allowing no one to leave to care for injured citizens. carnage without purpose. madness. what have they accomplished? ZERO.
nothing to cover so they come up with the "slaughter house"
meanwhile masked gunmen strut through bagdad.
25,000,000 to 140,000

13. This maybe why
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/10/opinion/10kris.html?hp

I'd urge all to read this op-ed piece. I think it explains so much about the election coverage and the war coverage. We are in an era of unprecedented change in this country and if we don't stand up and start yelling out loud VERY soon we are going to regret it the rest of our lives. This administration has done things that have NEVER been done before. If anyone tries to call them on it they are attacked and called unpatriotic. We are becoming a fascist theocracy fast folks. We need to take to the streets and actually protest as was done in the 60's and 70's.
I really believe that if we want our country to remain free we must soon take to the streets or loose it all.

Be blessed
RedTail Wolf

I guess after blabbing about how they were going to blow the living shit out of that town for TWO WEEKS, most people left.

They found some empty houses and two families.

the news just continues to sound like 1984 (the book). Now we're at war with X, we've always been at war with X. We're producing more than we planned, we're progressing faster than planned. Bah.

21. One reason for the lack of coverage, is that...
...many of the insurgents have already fled. Thus, our glorious victory wouldn't seem so glorious if people were told that we were rolling through and blowing up empty buildings, and facing small reguard actions. If we were actually bagging a huge number of enemy forces, it would be on every newscast 24/7.

23. this is kind of what happened the last time they went Fallujah...
There was big, big coverage of the initial assault, with lots of... well, I guess you could call it optimistic reporting, coupled with a somewhat understated announcement of a fairly high one-day casualty count.

Then there was sudden silence.

Then the silence was broken with very different news that told us of some kind of brokered solution that didn't make any sense, and the Marines kind of went elsewhere for some reason.

That's what happened last time. Whether the silence this time signifies the same thing, or something different, I just don't know and cannot guess.

Mosiac-World News from the Middle East, on Link TV is where I get "some" information on what is going on in Fallujah. And it is not pretty. This is what the whole Arab world is seeing, meanwhile our citizens remain clueless.
