OMFG! National Review pushing Zell for Secretary of State
Can you think of anyone who would be worse than Zell? Can you think of anyone who has less tact? If Zell were Secy of State we'd be at war with Canada by April.

http://www.nationalreview.com/ledeen/ledeen200411090750.asp

State: I have just returned from a couple of weeks in Europe, and was very surprised to hear diplomats complaining bitterly that they felt abandoned by Powell. "Where is he?" they lamented, "we supported him and he left us to fend entirely for ourselves."

The proper care of allies is right up near the top of a secretary of State's mission, and the allies don't give Colin Powell a passing grade. For that alone, he needs to go. There are other reasons, too, above all his weasely performance on Iran (every strong presidential statement was instantly followed by leaks from State undercutting the president's words; the secretary's deputy — and best friend — Richard Armitage called Iran "a democracy," which may be the great mal mot of this administration).

Finally, there's Powell supine acceptance of Foggy Bottom's conventional wisdom on every subject, forgetting that the foreign service isn't supposed to make our foreign policy; it's supposed to carry out the president's policies.

Who should replace him? Zell Miller.

16. At this point, the WHACKIER (and more arrogant) they get.
the better it'll be ... IN THE LONG RUN. That'll be cold comfort to whover gets in their way ... here and abroad ... but it WILL ultimately hasten their end. At age 74.75, I have little hope of seeing that end, but I DO have high hopes of seeing the beginning of that end ... perhaps adding my own feeble blows.

18. Colin Powell deserves some small recognition

Just how the hell is one sane man supposed to stand up to 200 raving lunatics in that administration? Anyway, he's from the military and used to following orders. Why do you think he wants to leave sooo badly? I'm hoping he'll do a tell-all expose' when he's outta there.

He has had egg on his face from being overruled by other dept heads, and I bet he wishes he could shove a boot up Rummy's a$$ even more than I do.

23. Makes sense.
He would be the appropriate face of this administration. Beats having a faux reasonable person representing them to the rest of the world.

If he has disagreements with another country's leader, he can just challenge them to a duel.

Hey, at least it would be a gesture of "bipartisanship" on the part of the admin. :P

30. Please, tell me this is another part of this awful nightmare I've been
...having this whole last 8 days....I cannot even begin to imagine the horror of other nations' having to deal with this man....Every time I think of the hateful venom dripping from his fangs at the RNC, and this would be the "face" we put to the rest of the world for statesmanship?

In only 8 days after stealing the election with a fraudulent win, this administration has managed to do the following with their Man-date:

1) Begin the destruction of Fallujah and the city and its population - not to mention probably setting off the very act itself that will bring on more terror attacks on us - the destruction of their holy mosques....

2) Their plans to privatize Social Security (and its ultimate destruction)

3) To replace the good news of the departure of Ashcroft with the even scarier news of Gonzales, the very man we have to thank for how to circumvent the Geneva Convention and ofcourse the idea of the "enemy combatant" power of the President.

These ofcourse are only the three big glaring things...even more frightening are the things they are planning behind the scenes...I skipping ofcourse other things like the Global Warming Report that was released on the climate change and other threats coming and the fact that our White House ignores "science"...

They haven't even been "re-inaugurated" and they are going full tilt...this is scary....I hope every Repuke that voted for this administration burns in hell....the fundies want their rapture? Looks like its coming...

:scared:

What is next?
