"World waits as Texan Cowboy ponders his next target" Pretoria News.
This is absolutely sad. I feel their pain.

SNIP..."Humanity is in a mournful mood. Gloom and horror grip the world. George W Bush has won an election - at last.
It is impossible to know what awful things Bush is capable of doing now that he has a mandate, given the havoc he was able to wreak without one. Fear stalks the world.

America is in an aggressive, unrepentant state of mind. It has decided, as we say down here, to do its own thing. And to heck with the world.

SNIP.."That State of the Nation address immediately after the September attacks should be required reading for anybody who wants an understanding of the mind of the man who now rules the world. It is a precis of the pre-emption doctrine - the world according to Bush. You are either with us, or against us, he said. Things are either black or white. There is no shade of grey. And if you are against us, we will attack you at a time of our own choosing.

But by that address Bush was not simply drawing a bow at a venture. It was all deliberate and purposeful. It was first shots at the presidential campaign three years down the line.

He was putting down a marker, and everything he did hence was to fit into that curriculum. Having sneaked into the White House through the backdoor so to speak, he knew he needed something pretty extraordinary to enhance his reputation in order to win re-election.
The September 11 attacks had given him a window of opportunity. And he wasn't going to throw it away by being nice to foreigners....."

2. wow.
excellent article. pretty much says it all. unfortunately, unless we can show the world we have been taken too, in a electoral coup, we will be held responsible along with the sycophants of our society, for Bushs' madness.

3. I loved this part...
"We can only hope and pray that he does not do something stupid."

I guess we know how THAT is going to turn out!

4. A big kick for the cowboy from Texas.
Another quote from the article:
SNIP.."These elections have left one wondering what democracy is supposed to be.

Graffiti in London some years ago said: "Democracy used to be wonderful but now it has got into the wrong hands." Or as Henry Miller wrote: "The blind lead the blind. It's the democratic way."

5. "He was putting down his marker." Like a dog spraying marking his
territory, only the dog is smarter and more humane!!
