I finished "Don't Think of an Elephant" last night ..
and I think it blew my mind. Yes, my mind is blown.

I was annoying everybody who happened to be around while I was reading it by suddenly shreiking, every 5 minutes or so, "Ah hah!! That's exactly it!!!" It really is amazing. I have been, since about 2001, trying to really figure out what it is that makes conservatives tick. There seem to be so many different types of them and I just couldn't figure out why it was so easy to guess what their reaction to any given topic or issue would be and yet I couldn't see the underlying philosophy tying it all together. Well, this book explained it for me, as well as some of the rationale behind why 'liberal' causes are tied together. It helped me to understand myself better, too, which is always a good thing.

So, I am just reccomending this book to you all. I know others have talked about how wonderful this book is and I totally agree with them after having read it myself. It is eye-opening and will be extremely helpful, in my opinion, if we want to move forward and help get this country moving back in the right direction.

If anybody has any ideas about how to legally get this book to as many of us as possible, I would be willing to help out in any way I can!

1. Read a sampler online (see link) or amazon has it for $8.00 - I bought
a bunch of copies (saved shipping! ) and donated them to our library system.

Read a sampler of "Don't think of an Elephant!" here:

4. Well, yeah, but my local library doesn't have it and then ...
you can't use it as a handbook and mark it all up!

I am planning on buying a few copies for local media asking them if they are supporting the convservative frame.

8. Cool
I think I'm gonna go to the bookstore and check this out. By the way, this is the first time that I'm actually planning on leaving my house since the election. I've been a very depressed hermit. My heart is still heavy, but I need to get out of this funk. So thanks for the book recommendation.

9. I know what you mean!

Reading that book really made me feel better. It's not so much how to convert the hard-core conservatives, but more how to better get the progressive message out there and how to stop the right wing from getting us to use their terms, which is self-defeating. It really made me feel like there is hope and actually something we can do. :)

Hang in there!

was equally impressed and have been debating my conservative friends again with the new ammo...and winning everytime, getting them to rethink things...which is a HUGE jump.

11. Maybe we should send copies to the DNC
and make it required reading!

I haven't read it ...yet. But, if it's as good as you say, it seems our 'leadership' needs to take a look at it.
