Hell no!!!

A spokesman for Gov. Tom Vilsack said the governor is considering a bid to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

This will allow the governor to preserve the first-in-the-nation status of the Iowa caucuses.

2. I think this is more of a PR thing for him
I think he wants to run in '08, so I think this is just to get his name out while talk is about something else.

3. Nice to see he's got his priorities in order.
Because, really, there's no more pressing issue for the democrats today.

What an ass.

4. One of my biggest beefs about the electoral process.
The primaries are drawn out too long and the focus on small states like Iowa is not representative. This is NOT what the Dems need right now!

7. Forget it, Gov!
If I have ANYTHING to do with it, IA and NH are BOTH toast, insofar as 'first in the nation' status goes. We need regional primaries, not those dog-and-pony shows.

8. Hold on....where did Vilsack himself say that's why he wants to do it?
I see nothing in there, such as a direct quote from him, stating that's why he wants to chair the DNC.

"This will allow the governor to preserve the first-in-the-nation status of the Iowa caucuses" is from the writer of the article.
