Theocracy on the march...New appointment Alert !!!
I have no link for this, but I received it as part of a petition to the White House, in an email:

"President Bush has announced his plan to select Dr. W.
David Hager to head up the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA)
Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee. The committee has not met for more than two years, during which time its charter lapsed. As a result, the Bush Administration is tasked with filling all eleven positions with new members. This position does not require Congressional approval. The FDA's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee makes crucial decisions on matters relating to drugs used in the practice of obstetrics, gynecology and related specialties, including hormone therapy, contraception, treatment for infertility, and medical alternatives to surgical procedures for sterilization and pregnancy termination.

Dr. Hager, the author of "As Jesus Cared for Women: Restoring Women Then and Now." The book blends biblical accounts of Christ healing Women with case studies from Hager's practice. His views of reproductive health care are far outside the mainstream for reproductive technology. Dr. Hager is a practicing OB/GYN who describes himself as "pro-life" and refuses to prescribe contraceptives to unmarried women.
In the book Dr.Hager wrote with his wife, entitled "Stress and the Woman's Body," he suggests that women who suffer from premenstrual syndrome should seek help from reading the bible and praying. As an editor and contributing author of "The Reproduction Revolution: A Christian Appraisal of Sexuality Reproductive Technologies and the Family," Dr. Hager appears to have endorsed the medically inaccurate assertion that the common birth control pill is an abortifacient.

We are concerned that Dr. Hager's strong religious beliefs may color his assessment of technologies that are necessary to
protect women's lives for to preserve and promote women's health. Hager's track record of using religious beliefs to g uide his medical
decision-making makes him a dangerous and inappropriate candidate to serve as chair of this committee.
Critical drug public policy and research must not be held hostage by
antiabortion politics. Members of this important panel should be appointed on the basis of science and medicine, rather than
politics and religion. American women deserve no less"

This gives us an idea of what we're up against!! Don't give up the fight! Spread the news! Speak up!
I don't believe sending a petition to the WH will do anything, but I am wondering if there is anyone else we could alert...

Any sane, influential people out there?? Or should we start investigating the abortion rumors on Smirky and his girl friend in the 70's??

4. theocracy
The commonality between the Evangelicals born again type, and the fanatic Islamic fundamentalists is that both sides use unbending absolutism in interpreting the "words of god".

If God of Moses is the same as God of Jesus and God of Mohammad, then these three books are so very inconsistent, and cannot be claimed to be coming from the same mind or philosophy.

Thank you very much for pointing out that link. It is a wealth of information. The fanatic Christians managed to acquire power by getting in bed with powerful American Jews. The two sides cannot stand each other, but they are in bed for selfish reasons. The Christians want to dominate, and bring Jesus back so that they can convert these Jews to Christianity. The Jews, think, and know that their fanatic Christians bed fellows are simply stupid, and they are taking them for a ride to get their way with providing Israel with ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY ACCORDING TO THE LEKUDIST WAY OF THINKING.

6. Aha! DU is so awesome...
Thanks a lot for the info. In a way it makes me feel better to know that it's already done, and not a new "Mandate" kind of appointment.
I will tell the people who sent me the email.

Thanks again for setting the record straight!!

9. We are fighting the wrong fight!
We need to all take a step back and examine who these so called religious christian people are.

First of all, we have to stop equating their morality with being christian. These people, who have hijacked the repugnant party, have become so moral that they have forgotten what it is to be christian.

Therefore, calling them CHRISTIAN is inappropriate and DISGUSTINGLY misleading. These fools are moral, but a far cry from being christian. In order for us to deal with them we must recognize them for who they are. They can call themselves whatever they want. IT IS UP TO US TO RECOGNIZE WHO THEY REALLY ARE AND NOT BE AFRAID TO CHALLENGE THEM.

Take care,

Kolya

12. It has everything to do with your post...
there's no need to take offense. I am not trying to belittle anyone's arguments because they are all of great importance to us individually and as a whole.

Your points are well taken.

My argument is that the only way we are going to turn things around is by reassessing our views of the right wing/republican party. Morality does NOT equate with christianity. Morality is the beast whose back we have to break in order to level the playing field with the right.

As I said before, these people have gotten so moral that they have forgotten what it is to be christian, and yet, we STILL call them christian. The question is, why do we call them christian when we see that their actions and attitudes are so UN-christian?

So, in order for us to start preventing the appointments of such disgustingly "moral" yet UN-christian jack@sses, we have to recognize the beast that drives them.

My apologies for having offended you.

Take care,

Kolya
