4. The O'Mann is just reporting it, |
|
he's not really investigating anything. I have a feeling there are more Woodwards and Bernsteins working behind the scenes than we know.

3. That is the reason for this mess we are in.... |
|
BushCo Inc. runs the media. We have to take back our fourth estate after we get President Kerry into the White House.
Welcome to DU!:hi:

7. The Internet is the new fourth estate |

All these "news" shows that call us "conspiracy theorists" are just pissed off that we exposed a story that they are forbidden to cover. I hope they're scared shitless of us.

5. There was only one Bob Woodward |
|
and he operated in a time when investigative reporters were given free rein to dig up the dirt and report it. Its a different time now. Suits run the show now and they don't have a clue how to report anything and if they ever were reporters, they forgot what their profession is or is supposed to be all about.
Back in Woodwards day, when you were hired....you had a job that was yours as long as you performed. Now, most corps hire temps or shy away from specialists. Thats why the Bob Woodwards have taken to writing books and going on TV talk shows.

6. This is what I wrote to the Washington Post. |
|
MY LTE
Once upon a time there was a great newspaper, the world and this country looked to it for the truth and honesty, sadly that newspaper is dead. The Washington Post made its name doing tough investigative news stories, ones that toppled corrupt administrations, and they had a reputation for never backing down no matter how much pressure was put on them. Sadly as we started to see during the lead up to the war in Iraq(which you even admitted you did not go after hard enough) a major shift in how you report news. Now you do fluff pieces you no longer go after stories, sadly you have become a symptom of a larger problem in this country, the News Media Never reports the truth or looks for the hard stories you report Spin. In doing so you let every American down in this country even the ones who do not want to hear the truth, Freedom of the Press what a lovely concept, I say concept because the kind of stories that made this so important are now a thing of the past. When our democracy dies people will look back and say the tide shifted when News People Quit Reporting The News and The Truth, and started reporting what was easy. It is truly a sad day in country and sure to only get sadder, One wonders if you will be reporting the truth then, Or if you will become like Baghdad Bob and reporting only what you want to see.

8. Woodward and Bernstein were municipal reporters at the time. |
|
They were the only guys at the Post on the story because Woodward had attended the late night arraignment of the burglars. The BIG BOYS in the press didn't touch it. Even after Bradlee got behind W&B, the NYTimes and the networks treated it as an "aside" and why? Because they were intimidated by Nixon, Haldeman, Ehrlichman and Colson. Three of those four went to jail, and the other one got a presidential pardon for his crimes.
It's gonna take somebody who has guts and enthusiam and is impervious to jeering from the mainstream whores.
I'm convinced they are out there --- but the big question is: Is there another Ben Bradlee in the media? Is there another Katherine Graham, who gave them the green light even after being personally threatened? The kids can't do it without backup.

10. Anyone worth his or her salt is still working on it. |

If you have a big one on a hook, you do not rush it. Don't want to be caught with something that gets debunked the next day. Watergate took a very long time to happen.

But you are probably already familiar with his works...they feature him a lot on newsmax, world net daily that sort of thing (so I am told anyway)
