There is no way to recount the votes on those machines.

4. Which makes them unconstitutional
...if you know election law.

This has been known since before the 2000 election fraud, which frankly, left too many rabbit trails. So the power structure completely ignored this untidy fact for four years while it implemented an illegitimate and unconstitutional voting system. Electoral fraud is much cleaner now. The law doesn't matter.

7. ENOUGH you guys. If I may, please quit with this victim crap!!
Either fight this deal or put up, and I know you dont want to, you care too much and youve been here too long. But don't let the bastards get you down.

Likewise,

please quit self-prophesizing because it only further builds them up and they dont have the power unless we continue to GIVE it to them!!

8. not whining.. just stating the facts.. republican legislatures
have the power to change things they do not like. Jebbie pretty much eliminated the "sunshine laws' that hade been in effect for ages.. How did he do it?? Republican controlled legislature..

In states that have a reasonable mix or a democratic majority, laws that strengthen the recount laws can be made. Those are not the states that we have traditionally needed recounts in though.

10. What Im saying is we cant wait for them to be nice and lose. We have to
fight them with accountability and the truth.

Whats the saying by Frederick Douglas, No one in power ever relinquishes it without struggle. Something to that affect.

The more we let them ruin our country, the more they will. Its up to us.

11. I agree
but when there is a huge majority, they will still do what they please..

Maybe some of their own will start to peel away..

12. I fight the system every day
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 10:53 PM by teryang
I'll say whatever I want.

Really don't appreciate the rightist victim vocabulary. A lot of newcomers here don't even realize that they have internalized that vocabulary and made it a part of their mindset. I'm not looking for leadership here or something to do. I "do it" every day.

Oops, there it is, I used the anti-rational vocabulary.

13. You can't
That's why the proper strategy was to build a litigation package by hiring experts and lawyers in selected battleground states at least two years ago, and then to bring lawsuits for injunctive relief after qualifying as a candidate on the ballot.

Injunctive relief would be sought and granted by proving in court that meaningful recounts are not possible with the evoting machines in use today. This was published on theBell.com, over four years ago before the so-called remedy to the hanging chad debacle in 2000 even happened.

However, the cost would be in the tens of millions and there would need to be democratic leadership worthy of the name.

14. As Bev Harris Pointed Out The Diebolds Have LOGS
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 10:56 PM by proudbluestater
In her FOIA request, she is asking for the computer logs of the Diebold machines. All machines keep log files on activities. She wants to have a look at the log files. Not the same as a recount, but I'm sure if one looks at them you can tell something worthwhile. If you get sudden activity and see the numbers move one way or another without a good explanation, there's an indication of tampering.

15. the transparency will help in the long run
...as it usually does. But time is running out to request a recount. In my state only a candidate can do that. It's called standing.

However, proof of fraud may change this despicable evoting election system and some heads may roll.

17. At this point my main hope is to get rid of the damn things before
'06, and make enough of a stink in the process that * has "illegitimate" as indelible a part of his public image as "Lewinsky" was of Clinton's. and that not only "Diebold" but "Dominionist" becomes a household word. people need to *know* about this shit.
