Poll question: Proudest moment in American History - 20th Century |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 05:26 PM by UdoKier
Which moment made you proudest as an American?
There have been too few moments we can REALLY be proud of. Not all of these really qualify.
Feel free to add your own ideas.

that is of a different quality than our foreign policy triumphs (victory in WWII, Marshall Plan) because there was no outside threat that forced us to do the right thing. Granted, the Democrats are still paying for it today, but we did the right thing dammit.

Since I'm not an American, my version is "moment that makes me wish I was American".
And that is: getting back from the Depression by means of social, "lefty" policies under FDR.
The right HATES HATES HATES FDR for that. Not only that but he beat up their pals too.
Best. President. EVAH.

It was the most selfless, intelligent plan to heal the damage done by WW2. It directly affected the lives of more people than any other choice presented.

It takes a lot of courage to reverse course and say, "We were wrong before but we're going to get it right this time."
