Iraq is the same as Bosnia? Help me out on this one
A freeper and Ihave been going back and forth on the Iraq war. I sent him to the Fallujah photograph site and he responded: "War is hell. It's the same thing as Bosnia under Clinton."

I responded that not a single American died in Bosnia. What other points should I raise? Weren't we asked to intervene? And wasn't in a true multi-national force?

1. The point the freeper MAY have been trying to make is that...
...both operations were a sorry, screwed-up mess. Probably not, but it's possible.

2. Yes, it was multinational
We were asked by the UN to assist them in intervening in Bosnia.

3. Bosnia was the scene of slaughter BEFORE we intervened.
Iraq has become a scene of slaughter BECAUSE we intervened.

4. Bosnia was in response to an ongoing genocide
No UN Mandate, but NATO countries decided to act anyway due to the ongoung slaughter.

Legally that is ok because you dont need a UN decision to stop genocide.

Clinton's dad didn't give Slobodon Milosevic chemical and biological weapons plus satellite intelligence on where to attack neighboring countries?

6. Thanks for the input
I think i'll send him one last email, then block his email from now on. I really get sick of hearing about all the Iraqis are shitheads, ragheads, and we need to keep the oil in safe hands. This guy is just full of bile.

7. One has nothing to do with the other. The US didn't invade Bosnia.
The US didn't install prison camps in Bosnia. The US didn't bomb entire cities in Bosnia, and to date, not one single US soldier has died in action in Bosnia.

Bosnia was not a US action, it was a NATO & UN action. They requested and received US assistance to stop El Tigre the mass murdering genocidal thug (sound like anyone we know?).

This is merely hate radio bullshit... and not worth your time.

9. I had this same discussion
with a RWN father in law who made the claim that 300,000 civilians were killed in "Clinton's Bosnian war" and why didn't I care about THEM?... I told him that That A. NATO's air campaign and subsequent peace keeping mission was in response to GENOCIDE. (Hmmm an actual VALID reason to use military force, what a novel concept.) B. the number 300,000 sounded dubious and according to the State Department the majority of civilian casualties were from Land mines left by the local combatants AFTER the conclusion of the air campaign. This Bosnia comparison is just another example of these Bush* supporters SAYING ANYTHING to avoid having to admit this war is wrong and that their support for this administration is misguided.
