According to their belief system they should want death, but instead they fear it. This sets up a paradox: if they were truly faithful they would not fear death, hence they are not truly faithful. This basic paradox creates an projection reaction wherein they project their fear of death and lack of faith onto other people as in: abortions-you are a baby killer you are bad <-like me-> so you must die (capital punishment) or you have no faith <-like me-> you are a bad person.
