How many religious networks are on your cable service? |
|
In my area of North Carolina I have counted SIX. Six networks aimed at fundamentalist Christians and conservative Catholics.
Add that to the corporate media dumping on Democrats 24/7 and you have the real picture of what we are dealing with and the extent of its reach.

|
And I didn't even count the religious shows on regular network television.

22. well, there are religious shows |
|
At nighttime NBC shows US televangelists and a holy mass is shown on Sundays; a short sermon on Saturdays. I believe that's it.

Comcast Cable covers most of Chicago. Off the top of my head I can think of four channels (three English; one Spanish) with Basic Cable devoted to religion 24x7.

|
On any day, at any time a scroll up and down the channels of basic, no frills cable gives us media whores and fundies trolling for souls and $$$$. Sunday mornings are the absolute worst. It's truly disturbing and you're right, blm, it's formidable especially when coupled with dubious voting technologies

I refuse to pay for television, but 4 of the 11 channels I can pick up for free are religious broadcasting. Not my thing, but Jack Van Impe is rather fascinating.

Both certified nut jobs. I wonder how much and what kind of drugs it takes to be able to say what they say with a straight face.
I think Rexella is Rex Humbard's daughter, so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think it would be nice to have a Jewish network. How about BET? Buddhist Educational TV. How about ESPN? Earth Spirituality and Progressive Network. Or, HBO? Hindu Beliefs On-air! :)

20. On Cablevision in NJ, |
|
we've got One that's explicit, seems to be flat-out Catholic, but then I don't watch. Then there's PAX, plus other networks that run religious programming on the weekends or in late-late night slots, kinda like Infomercials. Those are for the fundies and the outright thieves.
As another poster put it....TOO Many!

26. I'm in a south south suburb of Chicago |
|
and have Comcast cable. Last Sunday morning I was flipping channels and counted 20 stations. Unreal.
I also go to a gym out there and in the lobby they have a TV. Most times it has news on or some show, but this one born again nut job who talks to god while he's working out, (no joke) goes into the lobby and flips the channel to one of those nut case stations and starts chanting and praying along with em on the TV. I came in to sit down and cool off from my workout and I told him to go and do that shit in church, this isn't the place, and I walked up and changed the channel. He started ranting about how I should listen to the word and get saved and he'll pray for me, blahh, blahh, blahh. I told him the only thing that gonna need saving is his life if he touches the tv and puts one of those stations on again.
The war with these idiots has begun.

31. I have DISH but there are several |
|
There's TBN, SkyAngel, and Daystar on my Dish programming, also one Catholic Channel, then there's the Shepherd's Chapel channel - oh yeah talk about nuts - those people are nuts! There are a couple of others on the the public information type channels, but I don't know the name - one is between the Florida Education Channel and Free Speech TV on the dial. Plus there's PAX which shows religious programming and the 700 club comes on a couple of the regular channels, and here in GA there's church on every local channel on Sundays.
