Protecting your children from Republican wars |
|
I'm a veteran of the U.S. Army. Honorably Discharged. Never AWOL or suspended from my duties. I loved this country enough to volunteer as my forefathers did to lay my life down for it.
But for the last four years, I have been seriously worried about Bush getting another term - so much so that I began to consider a method that would allow me to shield my two sons from the right wingers who would want to darft them into the military. I cannot imagine doing nothing as my sons are drafted to go and die in a neocon war of choice over oil profits. I cannot imagine anyone allowing their child to go and die for George W. Bush. For nothing - Absolutely nothing.
Who knew that my fears would be confirmed in spades?
So I cashed in a retirement account and bought a small farm house in Costa Rica last year. Then I applied for residency for myself, my wife, and my sons. We just got the papers today.
Now my sons will be out of the reach of the fundamentalists. When they turn 18, they will be at our house in Costa Rica, and they will not register with Selective Service. They will not serve in this immoral military. They want to leave and to stay until they are 26, when they are no longer eligible, and it is my privilege to allow them to do so. This right wing government will NEVER take my sons to die in a pathetic guerrilla war waged over oil.
My worst nightmare is that Rick Santorum (who desperately wants it) will win another 51-49 election in 2008. Then, if they don't close the borders, I will be gone in one day. If they do, I will escape - Soviet Style.
If you have children who will come of age in the near future, protect your children! Don't let them be taken by this evil government. Protect them from what's coming. I never imagined my fears would come true, but they have - and it's worse than I ever thought.

3. get yourself on a draft board. Then you can decide who gets CO status |
|
not the old fat Republicans who would otherwise be there.

There are pre-requisites that have to be met before CO status is conferred on a inductee.

11. check this out for CO info... |
|
There are several useful hints here for qualifying for CO status (assuming, of course, that the rules aren't drastically changed) http://www.objector.org/

Don't ask, and they won't tell. Ask them and they might lie.
As for me I'm very well preserved but too dang old.

6. A draft of some kind is still a concern. |
|
If something happens to draw us into more conflict, with North Korea or Iran being most likely, and we are still involved occupying Iraq and Afghanistan, we well may need a draft.

8. There's already serious talk of a skills draft |
|
for doctors, computer programmers, and others with knowledge and skills that would be useful to the military.
The one thing the past four years have taught me, is not to put anything past the bush administration.

"There will be no draft."
Yeah ... And we're going to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and there's a link between Saddam and al Qaida, and Iraqi oil will pay for the invasion, and US troops will be greeted with flowers and candy, and on and on.
Tell us another one.
How many Bush lies will you believe?
What is really "so sad" is that the biggest traitor in America right now sits in the Oval Office ... a liar who will eagerly steal two national elections for himself and orders troops to commit war crimes. Attacking a sovereign nation without provocation is a war crime, Abu Ghraib was a war crime ... and frankly, any US soldier that carries out those illegal and immoral orders in complicit in committing war crimes.
