This is more like the sixties in America than the thirties in Germany |
|
Think about it: -In 1960, Richard Nixon, the VP of a very popular president who won reelection easily was beaten by the less experienced JFK on style, not substance, in a highly contested election. -In 1963, a national tragedy occured and as a result the Democrats were almost guaranteed to keep the White House. In 2001, Sept. 11th happened, guaranteeing the Republicans keeping the WH. -In 1964, Barry Goldwater was defeated, no surprise, by LBJ, although this was the turning point in the American conservative movement. Before that, "conservative" was a dirty word. We can do the same thing.
Not to mention Vietnam=Iraq, which means that we will most likely, if I am right, have a President Gore in '08.

2. If this is the 60's screw politics man |
|
Let's get great music going. Today's music sucks, especially compared to the 60's.

3. Certainly we don't have a Beatles yet, but |
|
most of the music from the sixties that was great came later in the decade. Keep on waitin', it'll come.

5. Youth vote is the only age group Kerry won |
|
18-30s went 57% for Kerry. Can't say the same about the baby boomers in 2004.

6. If you think that, then you really don't get it. |

this nation is now merrily heading into some variant of fascism and as long as lots of people blithely choose to deny that, the slippery slope just gets slippery.
Just look at some of the issues being talked about above this note.
DeLay is being given a pass in case he's indicted. Why? Because the GOP now knows it doesn't even have to make beleive it gives a fuck about what America thinks.
Funding to push mandatory, involuntary, screening of school children for "psychiatric" disorders AND the mandatory, involuntary prescripton of drugs as a result is being pushed right now in the Senate. Can anyone spell "LSD experiments"?
EPA testing of pesticides includes possible tolerence of exposure of children to the chemicals involved, reminiscent of the experiments with syphilis among blacks.
The Air Force Academy commandant suggests cadets should be more loyal to Christian teachings than the US Constitution.
And so on and so forth.
Do you really need the brownshirts knocking down the door before you smell the coffee?

7. WRONG WRONG WRONG..... |

in the 1960s the US had a very good media that showed the cost of an illegal war EVERY fucking night on TV! With commentary from real jouralists like Walter Cronkite. We now have in the new millenium here in the USA nothing less than STATE RUN TELEVISION!
Heil Hitler!

Maybe the 1660s, Cromwells Puritans seem as likely a fit as any, for reasons of comparison
