This scares the hell out of me, so were the writers like Orwell, Huxley, and Bradbury profits or does Bushco just think that 1984 is a dream reality?

1. I was also thinking of Aldous Huxley
As well as one of Stalins tactics of sending dissidents to mental hospitals.

4. last paragraph
On the coattails of the bill's passage out of the House, Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas) is now championing the "Let Parents Raise Their Kids Act," which would prevent federal dollars to fund any universal system of mental health screening that does not hinge on parental-guardian consent. Previously, Paul had failed to insert an amendment to the appropriations bill blocking federal funding of the NFI recommendations.

5. go Ron Paul!
I know he has that R after his name but he has so much more common sense than many people of either party.

Also, I just want to point out, that those of us homeschooling our kids don't have to worry about them being screened and drugged into submission.

just a thought.

11. sad thing is
there really isn't (anything wrong) with most of them.

Our youth is being drugged into submission and nobody is doing anything to stop it.

In fact, too many parents love the idea because it makes their job easier.

8. Crazy stuff
I think that a Republican congressman is railing against it will be a good thing, hopefully the Dems and that wing of the Republican party that has a libertarian "hands off" view will squash this bill.

I am going to e mail my congressman and senators though.

9. The most telling part of the whole article:
The NFI plan, said Jones, does not "have the Orwellian goal of drugging the populace for a political purpose." Instead, "it's the Orwellian goal of drugging the populace for an economic purpose."

To quote the line Mussolini ripped off: "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

The "New Freedom Mental Health Initiative"

I am quite concerned about this New Freedom Mental Health initiative which may be coming up for a vote. This bill serves to take away parental choice in the treatment of their children's mental health. The rights should never be taken away from parent's to decide whether their children should be using medication for the purpose of putting a few more dollars in the pockets of wealthy pharmacutical companies.

I also am concerned of the proposal to de-institutionalize the mentally ill. The mentally ill already do not receive enough treatment, many of them being Veterans and homeless. This is a disgrace. The idea to make the severely mentally ill "outpatients" is absurd. This threatens the safety of the community and the mental health of the patients. In Florida we need only look at the example of the many problems the DCF has faced in the care of abused children to know that if we treat the mentally ill in the same manner, it will be an astounding risk. I am sure the family of Ronald Reagan would be averse to letting a person such as John Hinckley out to the public.

Please let the public know that you represent their safety, security and ability to raise their children without government interference over the interests of wealthy pharmacuticals by not passing this bill if it comes up to a vote.

Thank you
