Are Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter the model of family values or what?
Watching the opening of Clinton's library, it was so touching to watch Jimmy so determinedly wipe off the wet seat before his wife sat. It was, quite simply, one of those sweet, touching, and incredibly eloquent pictures that just say "I love you". It was a metaphor for all they've done all through their lives.

Hey, Chimpus Khan, you want to see a godly man? Look at Jimmy.

I've always felt there are two ways to pray. Horizontal and vertical.

Chimpus Khan's a horizontal type. Arms wide, voice raised for all around him to see and hear. More show than go, ya know?

Jimmy's the vertical type. Quiet. Up. Just him and God.

I'll take Jimmy's way, thanks.

2. Great observation
and totally appropriate. Dubya talks about family values, Jimmy Carter lives them.

4. Habitat for Humanity, Need I say more

He is a man of God for the good work he does in helping those who help themselves. I need a man like that who will take the rain away and bring only sunlight thru his simple expressions of love. He deserves to have someone he can cherish that way, I am sure it brings him great joy.

6. We can use these "family values" against the Repunks
Republican talk about family values; Democrats live them. Simple and to the point.

5. I like Wes Clark.

Hope he runs in 2008. I don't think Kerry's going away though. Not from his big message. I for one can tell that all three of these men are individually ten times the man that George Bush is!

7. real values
means not pointing out your own "superior family values." You teach by example not by lecture, when you're doing it right.

8. They are still in love. Lucky for them.
We should all be so lucky. And integrity is nice to see in a former president for there are a few that don't/didn't/never will have that.

9. I love Carter ...
I would take take his values over the Repubs hypocrisy any day.
Carter has been a force for good ever since he left the Presidency.
What have the former repub Presidents done since leaving except stuff their own pockets?

12. Actually, I view it differently,
but the sentiments the same. I view Bush as a vertical prayer, praying selfishly, thinking only of himself and his narrow needs and views. Between him and God.

I view Carter as praying horizontally, including the whole of humanity and the needs and concerns of others in his prayer and spiritual life with God.

Its the difference between Repub morality (avoiding doing "wrong" things like masturbating, homosexuality, porn, etc) and democratic morality (affirmitively doing what's right like feeding the poor, being a good neighbor, being generous with time, talent and treasure, etc)

13. The Carters don't use religion to puff themselves up ...
... or make other people feel inadequate. I find this admirable and touching -- how sad that they are overshadowed and sneered at by the current administration's "base".

I didn't see them pouting about the rain, either. On the other hand, George W. sure had a sour face!
