Help Daily DeLay fill in GOP Reps positions re: DeLay Rule!
The folks at Talking Points Memo and Daily DeLay have been working to pin down GOP House members positions and votes on the rule change last week re: indictments and leadership positions. The vote was taken by voice and members' positions were not recorded. Therefore, it's up to us to learn how the GOP conference members voted.

For those who haven't been keeping up on this story, please check out Josh Marshall's comments on the matter at www.talkingpointsmemo.com the past several days. He also has links to some good news articles on the matter.

There is a list of members who have been contacted and still need to be contacted at the following site:
http://dailydelay.blogspot.com/2004/11/votes-on-delay-rule.html

If you have time today, please call a few offices that still need to be contacted and report what you learn in the comments field on the site. Phone numbers for offices can be found at http://www.house.gov. I would also suggest contacting offices who are listed as "letter-writers" and "private vote" members and asking again. It seems a lot of members are backing down and making statements now that the attention has cranked up.

Thanks!

1. Good work being done here
This list needs to be dispersed to local media outlets next. People out there all across the land should be informed as to how their repug reps voted on this protect the criminal, pos, private, unrecorded vote. Their local papers and teevee stations are not going to find out and let them know.

Surprise, surprise my rep - loudmouth Hayworth voted against it - at least he says he did. If so, I think it's the only vote he's ever made that I have agreed with.

2. By my count, we have determined the votes of about half the GOP conference
And would LOVE help trying to figure out the rest! :-)

3. I just called David Vitter's office in Washington.
I told his aide that I was a constituent of Rep. Vitter's & asked him how Vitter voted on the DeLay rule change. "I couldn't tell you because he didn't relay that information to the office", is what I was told. "Why not?" I asked. Again: "I really couldn't tell you." His arrogant, exasperated tone moved me to say, "I don't blame him for keeping it quiet."
