The folks at Talking Points Memo and Daily DeLay have been working to pin down GOP House members positions and votes on the rule change last week re: indictments and leadership positions. The vote was taken by voice and members' positions were not recorded. Therefore, it's up to us to learn how the GOP conference members voted.
For those who haven't been keeping up on this story, please check out Josh Marshall's comments on the matter at www.talkingpointsmemo.com the past several days. He also has links to some good news articles on the matter.
There is a list of members who have been contacted and still need to be contacted at the following site:
http://dailydelay.blogspot.com/2004/11/votes-on-delay-rule.htmlIf you have time today, please call a few offices that still need to be contacted and report what you learn in the comments field on the site. Phone numbers for offices can be found at
http://www.house.gov. I would also suggest contacting offices who are listed as "letter-writers" and "private vote" members and asking again. It seems a lot of members are backing down and making statements now that the attention has cranked up.
Thanks!
