So the Basketbrawl © is the most important story of the day, right?

It must be; the media is covering it like mad.

I heard some vague rumblings about an intelligence bill designed to make us safer being blocked by - shock! gasp! horror! - conservative Republicans, but that can't be important. I mean, the news media would cover it if it were really important, now wouldn't they?

They wouldn't cover a stupid story about a brawl at a basketball game or a local murder case if our security were at stake or something, would they?

Elperromagico, broadcasting live from the Scott Peterson MegaTrial, Phase Two. Back to you in the studio, Chase. :D

2. Not to mention that IRS snooping provision ending up
in some bill, thanks to some OK rep's staff. Evidence of Repug dirty tricks? Naw, let's focus on our equivalent of soccer hooligans.

3. Bigger even than the Nancy Kerrigan knee-clubbing!
They just don't come any bigger than multi-millionaire athletes beating up people who can afford to spend thousands of dollars on ringside seats to pro sports events.

Kind of reminds you what really matters in America - money, fame, TV coverage and violence.

4. Next time we want media coverage, we must throw beer at
each other.

Eg. Someone talks to the media about global warming then a confederate throws a cup of beer at them and Bingo -- Media coverage galore.

8. Oh, the irony
My boss told me that on his way to work this morning he was listening to one of those rw nutcases discussing this oh-so-important issue. The host and his callers were lamenting the breakdown of our society. The best part was the host asking indignantly "When will our youth understand that you can't use violence to solve problems?!"

10. Millionaire Jocks punch out the idiots who pay for the seats!
Right up there with the dangers of putting Preparation H in oatmeal.

Sports has replaced religion as the opiate of the masses.
