Tin Foil Question:
Just finished reading this story and got to wondering...
Since Dubya as finally "bettered" the ol' man by getting "reelected" did he try to bump him off?
The "tragic small plane crash" scenario has been used by the Repugs before. Could they eat one of their own?

1. They'd never kill him...
He's the real shot caller. I saw in a 60 Min program where he still receives the PDBs and calls his son to talk about them.

2. I guess the climate is getting to me too....
I started musing along the same lines when I heard it was to have been B*sh Sr.'s plane. My first thought was, "Well, He DOES know where the bodies are buried."

I guess this is because we have been shown SO MUCH PERFIDY by this administration that nothing seems impossible anymore.:-(

3. The broken bat
My title refers to a speech made by Geoffrey Howe, who was foreign secretary for a while under Margaret Thatcher. He resigned from the cabinet and then made, in his resignation adress, a devastating denunciation of Thatcher and her policies - he famously said, using a cricketing metaphor, that working with Thatcher was like being on a team and going out onto a field only to discover that the team captain has broken your bat. The speech was the watershed in Thatcher's downfall - although ineffectual in the cabinet, Howe brought down the government.

"Broken bats" seem to be less common in the USA - I don't know why, perhaps because your ministers don't have to defend seats elected by angry voters. But I thought Colin Powell might be one; he would take an opportunity to denounce the administration and what he's seen.

So far, another disappointment from Colin.

But what if Bush Sr turned out to be the broken bat? (The "Dead Sheep" is another term used in the UK in the same context.) If Bush Sr was gearing up to denounce Bush Jr ... but I doubt it. Why? Why would he? What could he gain? Perhaps a fleeting chance at greatness from a failed one-termer, but too many of his former allies would hate him for it.

No, sorry, it's tin-foil territory. If Powell announces a press conference, and then dies before he can make it, then wear the foil with pride, but not this time.

4. If anything...
I see it as a sort of disinfo attempt to cite anytime anybody brings up all the prominant liberals who seem to die in plane crashes.

i.e.

"But you rememember that one that almost took out * Sr. so it doesn't only happen to liberals..."

5. The plane actually ran into something, like a tall antenna tower
that sheered one of the wings right off.
