Press release 08.29.2004
VotersUnite.com awards Michael Moore its first annual “Hypocrite of the Year” Award in a landslide victory over John Kerry. “It really wasn’t even a close race, in fact once Michael was nominated, it turned into a race for second place”, says Edward Leon a registered independent and operator of www.votersunite.com. Leon goes on to say “The choice was obvious, Mr. Moore redefines Hypocrite, in fact he was the inspiration for us creating this award.” Moore, the acclaimed director of the libelous (oops, I meant "slanderous") documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11” was nominated for his most recent work a sarcasm-soaked open letter to President George W. Bush accusing him of “attacking a wounded vet.” *
Moore, in his letter “accidentally” accuses President George W. Bush of supporting the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" ads, which attack John Kerry’s service record in Viet Nam. Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is an organization consisting of Viet Nam veterans, who unlike Mr. Moore, were actually in Viet Nam. Some of the Swift Boat Vets apparently even served with John Kerry. The Bush Administration has repeatedly denounced their attacks on Kerry, and gone on to further say that they recognize that John Kerry served admirably in Viet Nam. This raises the question, “why hasn’t John Kerry denounced Mr. Moore’s Propagandist attack of our Commander and Chief? The question is not whether Mr. Moore has a right to attack out President, but should an elected official, who actually voted for the Iraq War, support Mr. Moore, by not denouncing him. If the standard of inaction amounts to support, as they falsely accuse President Bush of, Mr. Kerry's inaction constitutes support for Michael Moore's gross depiction of our president in "Fahrenheit 9/11. This inaction is the reason Mr. Kerry came in second place in our “Hypocrite of the Year” award.
The irony in this is that Mr. Moore attacks a group of Viet Nam Veteran’s, while accusing George W. Bush of attacking a Viet Nam Vet. Which Bush did not. Mr. Moore obviously feels that the Swift Boat Vets should not have the same right he does to slanderously attack a political candidate. And while votersunite.com does not support the Swift Boat Vets attack of John Kerry, we recognize their accounts are based on their own factual experience with John Kerry, unlike Moore’s subjective hate slanted “lack of factumentaries” about President George W. Bush. Let us not forget that Mr. Moore made his whole career, along with Millions of Dollars, by making a mockery out of America’s worst tragedies while slanderously attacking the Bush administration.
