I keep thinking of the Veterans, Kristen Breitweiser, MJ Fox, Dana Reeves and little old normal folks like myself who gave up so much of their lives for that man. How he sleeps at night is beyond me.

It would never happen, but I sure would love to see a Dean/Gore Green Party ticket in 2008.
If those two guys left the Democratic party for the Greens it would legitimize the Green movement significantly.
It's nothing but a dream though.

|
He's got his finger on what makes the party what it is.
We need people in the party who know it doesn't end with presidential and "sure thing" Congressional races.
I didn't care for Dean as a candidate, but he'd make a damn fine DNC chair.

is inextricably lost to corporate influence.
Dean has a shot at reforming the Democratic party from within, but I don't think it's a great one. I'd much rather see him start a new party or join an existing one that isn't so completely fucked up as the Democratic party.

6. Include copies of DU threads re JK & election fraud: |
|
that should add alot of weight to the envelope. If you have any "extra" Kerry/Edwards buttons left (that you don't want to save for posterity) include them in the envelope, too. I know this isn't giving you words, but perhaps words would be too good.

Way back a year ago, some of us were trying to warn people in the party. We said that we need to take a very strong position and be alert and prepared for a smear campaign and for a stolen election. We warned about going the same old DLC route. We were shouted down and told to leave it all to the pros, that the stakes were too high this time for our "radical" ideas, and that we all needed to pull together behind the "most electable" candidate and accomplish "mission one - oust Bush!" and that we should refrain from criticizing until after the election.
We did all that. Thousands of us worked ourselves to death. Many gave their last dollar to the campaign on the solemn promise that we would not be abandoned.
How on earth did the party leadership not anticipate 8-10 hour lines to vote in African American and other Democratic districts? How on earth did the party leadership fail to protect its voters? What good is GOTV if people were not able to vote, or their votes did not count?
It is not whining, it is not disloyalty and it is not a little "disappointment" over not "winning" that people should be told to "get over" when we say these things, and it is an insult to characterize critics of the party in these humiliating and derogatory ways. We are not talking about losing the race for prom queen here. That would be something to "get over." People's lives are on the line. Our freedom is on the line. Our Constitution and our right to vote are on the line. The survival of the country is on the line.

This is THE issue. Man oh man what's the point indeed, if we have a polarized country and you need 51 one votes-they have given up two or three-oh well, on to 2008! What's the point? Why give them money to continue to lose?

After the 2000 election theft, I got one of the fundraising letters from the DNC. I wrote a vicious reply about how feeble the Democrats were in the face of outright election theft, and how Al Gore was left to his own devices without visible support from the party while our democracy was stolen in broad daylight. I told them to never ask me for money again. It would be just as well served poured down a rathole.
And they haven't. That's one way to be taken off of their fundraising list...

I saw Edwards and Kerry at rallies in my city. I gave more money than I should have to the DNC and Kerry campaign. I donated hundreds of hours of my time to the Democratic party and the campaign. I was 2 feet away from JK at our local event and I Believed him! I fucking believed him when he said 'I have your back'. There were many Veterans that showed up at these events and BELIEVED!! May he never have a peaceful nights sleep. OMG... I feel like I have wasted so much time and energy better spent with my children than listening to that snake oil salesman!

44. Yes, I got on that merry-go-round |
|
I also donated money to Kerry, worked for months for the Missouri Democratic party, went to the rallies and did all of the grunt work everyone else here did. The only difference is that I didn't give a nickel to the DNC.
I'm not going to do that four years from now unless it's a candidate who personally motives me to do so. No more blindly working for a candidate who is selected by Iowa (which then promptly goes Red).

40. Suggestion on what to say, not how to say it... |
|
Tell them that you would be willing to provide funds, once they do the following:
1. Concrete evidence that the Democratic party is addressing the problems - on who and how the ballots are counted.
If we cannot validate the count, what good is the vote?
2. Would like an answer on why did it appear that the leadership of the Democratic party, Democratic members of Congress did not actively support Kerry during the election.
3. Why does it appear that the Democrats in Congress have elected leadership that appears to be supportive of the Bush agenda, or Bush-lite. Why support a GOP-lite when we can have the real deal.
4. Would they answer this question: Given that Tom Daschle (sic) who recently loss his senate position/leadership post in the Democratic party, is now a counsel for Bush. Was Nader right that there isn't a damn bit of difference between the GOP and DEM'S?
(a) If there is a difference, explain Tom accepting this position with this administration? (b) If there is not a difference, why give money to the DEM'S?
Hope that helps...

42. Not sure how you feel about the DLC vs DNC issue |
|
But were it me to write back, I would include a paragraph about withholding support funds until it is clear what the DNC is going to stand for - for example will they go all religious or will they go further towards Republican Lite as a strategy? Will they abandon Roe and homosexuals?
Being a Deaniac I might add something about that as well (but personally I would rather Dean run again in 08, instead) and that the party needs to find away to expand without pissing off the grassroots base.

|
I received the same letter from him, along with an envelope to send money to the DNC.
I donated to the DNC twice during the campaign, but I will not be sending them money any time soon. They have not stepped up to the plate and been the opposition party that they should have been during Bush's first term.
I am considering switching my party affiliation to Independent.

47. After the 2002 debacle, I wrote the DNC and told them to never... |
|
...solicit me again. I told them I would use my money and time towards individual candidates whom I supported. Guess what happened? They never sent me anything again. I have received nothing from them to this day. And frankly, I thought that was more telling than anything. You would think if they cared, they would try to calm the fears of their constituency and address the issues of concern that I and others have. But no. I never heard from them again. And had they done that, had they just tried to assure me that they wanted to remain the opposition party, I would have probably helped them out again. I would have thought, that maybe they cared, or that I mattered. But they don't, and I didn't. I guess I was either with their Republican-lite agenda, or I was against them. Hows that for an umbrella party?
