HOLD IT! ex-Va.Gov. Gilmore for Homeland Security Chief?
Gilmore?

He lost his job as RNC head (Rove) 2+ years ago.

Asa Hutchinson also mentioned on Aaron Brown's show.

BTW- Gilmore's cartax removal almost ruined this state....oh yeah and there is that matter of him having a girlfriend which his WIFE wasn't to fond of (she went and stayed with Patricia Cornwell)....oh and he is a suit completely unqualified to be a trash commissioner.

3. Oh so right. We call him (or I do anyway) Governor Enron.
He not only bagged the car tax in an irresponsible way, he handed Gov. Warner a "balanced budget" what Warner quickly found out to have a $3.0 billion deficit (which was against the VA Constitution).

We are in huge trouble if this guy gets the job. He will make Ridge look like a genius, seriously!

4. Oh, will I ever feel safe with that stupid asshole in there!
We are still reeling from his failure as governor of this RED state. Mark Warner has helped tremendously, but Gilmore and his smirky predecessor George Allen screwed us royally.

5. Given the choices, I'll take incompetent and evil over competent/evil...
I don't even bother hoping that anything better is an option. I say, go Gilmore. Rah. Go on, make us some new color charts and boink your girlfriend on taxpayer time. Finish the job of letting it all fall apart to shit. It'll still beat the fuck out of some goon who really *can* make the trains run on time...all the way to hell...

6. no way. the next one will be another * loyalist
Gilwhore would be a party pick. But Bush isn't about the GOP, he's about loyalty. It'll be another member of his clique.

7. I expect
That all of Bushie's appointments will be based on religious views/persuasion first, and foremost. That would be the next step in the Dominionist Agenda, which is right on schedule.

13. Naw, *first* and foremost is ability to suck up to the Chimp himself.
Religion et al comes after that. Not that they don't often go nicely together. But I mean: look at his pick for A.G. Less fundie than Ashcroft (not a fundie at all, am i wrong?), but hopelessly corrupt and awful, and an old-time crony of Georgie-Porgie. pure Texas politics.

12. Gilmore is a piece of shit, I'll give you that..
.. but I'll take the car tax break.

Living in ultra expensive Northern VA with a middle class income and a house that I can barely afford, I'll take anything.

Many states do well with little to no car tax. Gilmore's mis-management of the state and fiscal irresponsibility is what screwed VA up.
