I think Karl Rove is an evil genius.
Look at what he has accomplished. He has taken a nonentity and transformed him into the twentyfirst century version of Winston Churchill, at least in the minds of the unthinking 51% of the American electorate if you believe in the voting results. To do this, he had the help of Rasputin Rumsfeld and Svengali Cheney, of course. Together this evil trio manufactured the 9/11 incident, created a phantom threat, stonewalled all investigations, turned an AWOL, alcoholic, drug addict, abortionist into a born again devout Christian who regresses every now and then into a veritable paragon of virtue. This nobody is allowed to denigrate the service of people like Gore and Kerry, to question their vastly superior competence and intelligence and to impugn the patriotism of Max Cleland without any consequence along the way.I am certain Rove has managed to "fix" the lections somehow because I refuse to believe that the American people, hurt by the continuing hemorrage of jobs and the uncertain future for their children and the inequality of our tax laws under Bush would have voted for him.

A real evil genius he ,Master Karl.Along this evil road he has also managed to kill and maim thousands of innocents. But hey somebody has got to do it, right?

1. You're half right...he's evil all right...
But he CHEATS. It doesn't take a genius to win by cheating...just someone who is devoid of moral scruples.

2. I think he's only gotten this far because:
1. We were unaware of how low he'd go to get what he wants, and
2. We didn't want to believe how low he'd go to get what he wants.

To counter Rove, the Loyal Opposition has to get its message out before Rove, keep repeating it, and not going after *, but Rove individually.

One idea would be for the dems to brush up their oratory skills and command the podium in the House and the Senate in the tradition of Daniel Webster. Our voices must be heard. Sure, maybe our guys won't make the Evening News, but there's CNN and eventually recognition if their voices become a din and can't be ignored. Take back our democracy through Congress.

3. Ever hear the story of his first political "success"?
When Rove was a youth,he worked for a repug running for office in his hometown. He decided to visit the office of the opponent pretending as if he was interested in helping his campaign. While there, he managed to steal letterhead. Rove went on to send out invitations using the letterhead, telling folks to show up at the opponents office for an evening of "drink, food, and women". They showed up, but there was no party. Made the opponent look like an idiot.

That's how the man operates. He's pure evil, and will stop at absolutely nothing to get what he wants. He has publicly stated his goal is to make our country a one party system and change the course of American History forever.

4. And now it is not JUST Rove ........
He has many shadowy players who've learned his tactics and share his lack of morals and scruples. As he learned at the knee of Lee Atwater, so have folks like slime ball Ralph Reed learned at Rove's knee. And while we know Reed's name, there are more nameless, faceless ones behind him.

And as said above, they're not geniuses, they're simply devoid of morals.

Then there's the whole VRWC that hamstrung the Clintons. They're out there, too, with deep pockets and a whole other, but complimentary, agenda. I suspect Rove could just as easily have been a Democrat, really. I suspect, for him, at least, it is about the game - the winning - more than the specific ideology. Not so for the VRWC.

5. I still say that we should..or someone should...
kidnap Rove....and chat with him until he tells all...where all the skeletons are hidden...it wouldn't even require all that much in the way of "chatting" to get him to spill the beans.

7. No, bring him down with the truth.
Rove is shrewd but not a genius (too dignified a term for such a piece of filth). The public needs to know exactly what a fraud he's perpetrated and how little it has to do with anyone's values. It serves naught but the wealthy, the well-connected, the unscrupulous and those members of the plutocracy who are unprincipled. In short, Bush and his ilk.

Read the most recent edition of the Washington Monthly (the one with Barack Obama on the cover) for yet another example of how Rove operates -- whisper campaigns.
