The "Alternative Medicine" racket is de-regulation run amok.
But personaly, if someone wants to throw hundreds of years of medical advances out the window in favor of something "traditional," I say we didn't really want you in the genepool anyway.
But please, don't call a long overdue regulation of snake-oil salesmen "taking away our freedom."
You're breaking my heart.

2. Well, it looks like vitamin supplements won't be easily available |
|
And vitamins are hardly quack science friend. Once again, this is a giveaway to Big Pharma, both here at home and abroad. It isn't a matter to take lightly, but apparently you do.
One should have the freedom to take whatever one wishes, but apparently there are some here who are in favor of the nanny state.

Pharma is the absolute last fox we need guarding this henhouse.
I sure don't want to drive to Canada to pick up a multi-vitamin because the vitamins here cost twenty bucks a pill.

3. Ouch, touchy aren't we? |
|
Practicing medicine are we? Or maybe you work for a pharmacutical company?
Well, that's okay. I like you anyway.
I think regulation is great. I'm all for it. Europe has a perfectly good system of regulating "non-tradtional" medicine. It does not, however, involve sending people to the doctor for a prescription for anything above the standard dosage of Vitamin C.
I was in Florence and unused to walking rough cobblestone streets. My muscles were in a knot. After a hot bath and crawling into bed, I told my husband, who does not speak Italian, to go the the drugstore (pharmacy) and say two words to the pharmacist: Arnica Montana.
30 minutes later he was back with homeopathic arnica. He said the pharmacist came up to him, he said the magic words and she went back amongst all the pharmacuticals and opened a little drawer. She came back with the arnica. No worries.
And if medical "science" wants to discard 10 thousand years of rigourous field testing out the window to make a buck I question both their intelligence and their ethics.
Now go take a valium...oh, wait, you can't it's derived from a medicinal herb.
(and my genepool happens to be superior, but thanks for asking.)
