Is it anti-semitic to hope Bush is brought down by neocon/israel thing?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 04:06 PM by patcox2
I see the FBI has just searched the offices of AIPAC (American Israel Political Action Committee), investigating a possible spying issue which involved a pentagon official (Perle? Wolfowitz?) passing information through AIPAC to Israeli intelligence.

Here is a link:
http://www.jta.org/index.asp
Note the source, hardly a right wing or anti-semitic one.

Now I have seen that even mentioning these facts is considered anti-semitic, by the "any criticism of anything Israel does, including running young women over with bulldozers, make you Hitler" crowd. But it seems to me that if this is true, this could destroy not only Bush, but his whole foreign policy, which would be a good thing, wouldn't it?

1. Actually....
They've been suggesting for months now that the state department may have been "influenced" by Israeli "spies" regarding our decision to invade Iraq.

As always, the Nazis are setting-up the Jews to be a scapegoat for their own failures.

Summary of the Republican Platform:

1) Muslims hate us for our freedom
2) Homosexuals want to destroy our civilization by marrying
3) Jews tricked us into attacking Iraq
4) Liberals want to turn our country over to the United Nations
5) God appointed Bush to serve as his instrument here on Earth

Those who do not learn from history....

2. Don't think so, Bush is too invested in the Iraq war to blame anyone else.
But the perception that he was being played by Israel, and that the planners of the war may have been Israeli agents, would be devastating to him, I think. I hope.

7. Excuse me?
"Played by Israel, and that the planners of the war may have been Israeli agents" is a complete whitewash of his Christian ass.

And that's what you're hoping for? That the Jews get the blame for a war that benefits white corporate Christians? THAT'S YOUR HOPE???????

Maybe you can shower it off. Maybe an enema will help.

3. Well, that is how the MSM will spin it.
My entire life, now more than a half century, has been witness to an unquestioning support of a minor country that regularly drags out ass into trouble.

In return, we sometimes, but not often, get good citrus.

6. It's a two-way street
The Evangelicals who claim they are "working for peace" are just throwing fuel on the fire.

They actually want the Jews and Muslims to destroy each other in the War of the Apocalypse so Jesus can come back.

They're not just dragging us helplessly along behind them.

The Xian fundies are actively trying to make things worse.

The neocons are a disgrace to Jews everywhere, just like Drudge is a disgrace to gay guys everywhere. But it will be spun that way.

5. The real question:
Would you prefer that Bush's support for Israel be his downfall over some other perceived flaw? If so, why that as opposed to something else?

10. I would not prefer it at all, because of the anti-semitism complication.
But if it would do the job, good. My perception is that as a scandal it probably would never get traction anyway, exactly because making a big thing of it would provoke howls of outrage and accusations of anti-semitism against anyone who brought it up.

8. No, not at all
That would make as much sense as saying that because you deplore Bush and the neocons that you are devoted to the downfall of the U.S. If Perle is involved it will only be necessary to follow the money. Scum does anything for a buck. The freepers will tell you that because you oppose Bush you hate America and if you favor separation of church and state that you hate God. The dis-connect these people suffer from is astonishing. Israel has had an amazing PR success with the knee jerk 'anti-Semite' charge for anyone who opposes anything they do. They seem to have forgotten that the real anti-Semites are the right wing 'Christians' they are in bed with. They haven't bothered to look into end times theology, you know where good white American Christians are swept into heaven on the wings of Jesus and the nasty swarthy Jew is condemned to hell. With friends like that, you don't need enemies. The absolute refusal of the neocons and the Israelis to reach common ground with Islam could very well lead to Armageddon, but they won't need Jesus, they'll have Cowboy George and the Israelis with nukes for that.

As a Jew I am ashamed of Paul Wolfowitz and his gang. AIPAC's involvement on such high levels is worrisome to me too. There's a fine line between anti-Semitism and Israel skepticism. Calling Israel a terrorist nation, saying you support Hamas, calling Israel a murderous nation, etc. This is anti-Semitism disguised as anti-Zionism. But if you're concerned about the humanitarian implications of the security fense, Israel's high-level involvement in our intelligence community, the settlements (which really piss me off btw), that's not anti-Semitism. There are a lot MORE Jews on our side. Besides, a lot of the Neo-Cons arent Jewish (Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc).
