Media Ownership Research Question--please help

A few years ago Molly Ivins wrote a column that detailed the consolidation of media ownership over the last couple of decades. It was in a format SOMETHING like:

* In 1980 there were ##### independently owned newspapers, ##### independantly owned local television stations, #### independently owned radio stations, amd ### cable operators in the U.S.

* In 1990 there were ##### independently owned newspapers, ##### independantly owned local television stations, #### independently owned radio stations, amd ### cable operators in the U.S.

* In 1995 --------

* In 1999 ---------

* In 2001 ----------

etc etc etc.

I cannot find this article with google, etc.
I would really appreciate any help with this.
