US Warns It's Citizens: Don't Travel to Iraq! duh!
I found this buried in an article on yahoo about the latest explosions in Baghdad. I wonder how Negroponte sleeps in that shiny new embassy at night? Not well I hope.....

Also Thursday, the U.S. Embassy banned its employees from using the highway linking Baghdad to the international airport, regarded as one of the country's most dangerous roads.

"Until further notice, no mission personnel will be permitted to use the main road from the international (Green) zone to the Baghdad International Airport for security reasons," a warden's message said.

The 10-mile stretch of road has been the scene of repeated road side bomb and suicide attacks generally targeting U.S. military personnel and civilian contractors working on reconstruction projects in Iraq.

The embassy statement also cautioned U.S. citizens in Iraq to review their security and warned those planning to travel to Iraq whether such a trip was "absolutely necessary."

1. Well geez..... can we go "near" it?? Can we "bomb" it?? Can we install
a regime of our choosing "again"?? Can we help arm it "again"??

May we sell off all of it's state owned businesses and interests as if they were ours to sell???

May we poison the land with DU??

May we leave cluster bombs hither and yon??

Can we remake it in our corporate image??

Can we make sure murkan companies can free range there??

Can we thumb our collective noses at the countries that didn't bomb the crap out of Iraq and shut them out of the reconstruction dollars??

Second thought... I'll just stay home.

i was thinking of some r&r at the al rashide...sitting poolside with one of those drinks with the little umbrella and by dawns early light...watching those bombs bursting in air...giving proof through the night that our flag is still there. what a bummer
