Lynndie England has retracted part of her statement
just a blurb, but it would be interesting to know if she really was coersed to put that spin on it.

Attorneys for Lynndie (the Leasher) England, who is charged with abusing naked Iraqi inmates at Abu Ghraib, asked to retract her early statements that soldiers were just "joking around, having some fun" when they posed for photos with the prisoners. Her lawyers said her statement was coerced.

1. So if they weren't joking around... was it an order?

3. Why do so many Bushie supporters...
Think she is innocent? Is it that hard to believe that someone that will swear to kill for Bush would torture someone? Killing is worse than hurting someone, and the Bush thugs do that every single day in Iraq.

4. I believe her
Although clearly she is having a good time carrying them out, it is more logical that American soldiers would be following orders to strip and sexually humiliate Muslim detainees, given that intelligence services of the US and one of our allies base them on "academic research" which says sexual shaming is the worse thing that can happen to a Muslim man -- rather than believing they'd come up with this sick shit all by themselves. We also know that certain non-American interrogation consultants were brought in to train US soldiers as to how to carry out an occupation.

I can see soldiers beating detainees and committing other brutal acts, but the sort of stuff that happened at Abu Ghraib was too weird and too specific to have arisen spontaneously among them.

I suspect they were ordered to do so -- and found out that it could be fun.

But the responsibility goes all the way up to the top. You KNOW Gonzalez knew about this shit -- George asked him to find a way to make it appear legal.

Bye bye Geneva Conventions and honorable soldiering -- at least until we impeach these immoral bastards.

6. "too weird and too specific"
Exactly. In fact, I remember reading that those very humiliation techniques were written into manuals about dealing with "terrorism" suspects.

5. Her statement was coerced?
Did they set dogs on her? Lock her down to metal rings? Sleep deprivation? Third party masturbation? Rape? Electric shocks? How was she coerced into making her statement that she would now like to recant or withdraw?

And will any of the victims of U.S. torture (those that survived, that is), be allowed to recant or withdraw any statements they might have made in their extremity?

7. they probably told her it would go away if she covered for the bosses
and now she realizes what we all knew. The bosses are liars and cowards and plan to let her take the blame to avoid exposing Rumsfield and company.
