The Sanctity of Marriage
Christian conservatives are right. The sanctity of marriage needs maintenance. I'm sure they will soon get on the rate of divorce among heterosexuals and the rate of spousal abuse among heterosexuals and the rate of incest among heterosexuals and the rate of teen pregnancy among heterosexuals. They probably are just waiting until after Christmas to address reasons that desanctify marriage. The will also soon really value life, after several more thousand american troops die in Iraq because thats what christian conservatives want.

1. they do have it right in one tiny regard
If a gay guy tried to marry a chick (or vice versa), now that would be disturbing for what it might imply about the future and happiness of that relationship. It would definitely not be a traditional marriage.

But a guy marrying a guy or a gal marrying a gal - what does that have to do with heterosexual marriage?

I don't get it. Explain?

2. Fear and insecurity
on part of conservatives who want everything to be just so; like the return of slavery. I view "it" (marriage) as two people who love each other and it ain't none of my damn business. I have to chuckle when I think of the manly red state redneck fearing a gay couple getting married as a threat to his marriage. Total fucking joke. So sad their efforts have to be countered. I'm happily married 30+ years and I'd gladly exchange some of my neighbors for some gay couples.

3. I know it's a stereotype but we're great for real estate value
you know, buy a house, put in a sprinkler system, new kitchen and appliances, rework the interior with a little marble, granite and exotic woods, landscaping and absolutely FABULOUS seasonal decorations and suddenly everyone wants to live there!

Ahhh urban frontiering . . . what a headache. I mean, that's pressure! I'm the kind that secretly hires a gay interior desecrator to make me look good because I got the straight gene in that department.

4. I've been pondering this subject
My wife and I know a few lesbian couples and I know some gays in New Orleans (60 miles west) and none of them pose a threat, none of them are evil, none of them hate. How the fuck can someone thump a bible and then hate with every fiber of their body because of someone's sex life? I do believe there will be an incredible awakening when those who hate in Jesus name go knocking at the Pearly Gates.
