It doesn't bother me in the least if an employee at a store wishes me a Merry Christmas. I'm sorry so many school holiday concerts preclude some of the loveliest carols because they're religious. Even though I'm an agnostic, from a partly Jewish background, I'm just not offended. Christmas is a largely secular affair in this country. The whole business out in Denver and reports about store policies banning employees from wishing people Merry Christmas, just seem silly to me.
Flame away, and have a happy Hanukkah, a great Kwanzaa, a happy holiday and wonderful winter solstice.

1. Have you seen those Virgin mobile ads on TV? |
|
Happy Chrismahanakahkwanza day or something like that. I think it's brilliant. They even mention agnostics (like me) in the song they sing and it was so nice to be included for once. Just say happy everything to everybody and get on with it I say.

2. This whole anti-Merry Christmas story is another attempt to |
|
divide Americans along cultural lines.
It's a non-issue.
Let's ignore it, okay? No one wins here.

4. For about 99% of people in the US, Christmas is about |
|
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus, FOOD, presents, Fancy decorations, FOOD, presents, Frosty the Snowman, FOOD, presents, rinse & repeat.
There are the few who take the religious approach, but dut to marketing, they are a teensy minority.
Most "holidays" have been reduced to consumption-fests.
Valentine's Day is about GIFTS...not the quiet expression of love Mother's Day is about Hallmark and Tele-Flora Father's Day is about ugly neckties and tools for Dad Thanksgiving is about gluttony, football and the "day-after spend-a-thon" Easter is about chocolate bunnies and ridiculous stuffed toys
Why should Christmas be any different??

3. I'm Jewish, my husband has a Christian upbringing... |

And is now Pagan. I LOVE the whole Christmas thing. Actually, I love the whole winter holiday season period. I love listening to the music, seeing all the houses decorated, the whole festivity thing. And, I especially like how people will suddenly talk to strangers, wishing then a happy holiday, etc. I have no problems with someone wishing me a Merry Christmas, how on earth should they know that I'm Jewish?
