Eudora question from a techno-peasant
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 06:29 PM by whalerider55
someone i know sent me an e-mail with a file on it- don't think it has a virus (have Mcafee) but it is stuck in throat of my incoming box; i can't download e-mails because they can't get past this obstruction.

can someone tell me how to do a cyber-heimlich and disgorge this damn thing so i can resume getting e-mails?

1. server issue
You can get around it if your ISP has a webmail option, which most do now. If that doesn't explain it to you, I can walk you through it by pm.

2. sounds like that mail might be a netsky virus variant
you'll need to go to your emails webserver and delete all mails that come from unfamiliar sources, especially if they say something to the effect of "re:anything" in the subject line. Even if you have McAfee it probably won't catch it. The emails in question are usually about 40k in size as well.

4. For next time,
you could try going to http://www.mail2web.com to delete the offending message.

I do this when I get an attachment too large for my tenuous dialup connection.
