State police officers, some with trained dogs, swarmed Garden State Plaza on Thursday as part of an anti-terrorism plan that focuses on malls.

The officers will become a common sight at shopping centers across the state in an effort to prevent terrorist attacks by establishing a presence and keeping close tabs on unusual behavior at malls and popular landmarks, officials said.

"What we are doing is sending a message to bad guys that there are no soft targets in New Jersey," said Capt. Al Della Fave, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

5. soon we'll be used to a heavy police presence at the mall
Soon enough TV shows will start showing the new reality, and everyone will just automatically assume that the militarized police belong in malls, protecting us from terrorists.

7. Don't go to the mall !
Support local stores, buy handmade things at the church flea market, make your own gifts, give books instead of imported plastic overpriced crap, make all your purchases online, use you imagination !
Maybe if we all stop feeding the monster it will die? People lived a long time without malls, and maybe we need to get back to that way of life. While you're at it, turn off the TV. Do you really need that thing screaming at you to buy stuff you and your kids don't really need ? C'mon genieroze, come over here with us, you can do it !

6. AHA!!! They had an article in my paper in Abilene about our mall cops
getting "special training to spot terrorists".
Next step...the news message...er, massage.
Holiday shopping and consumer confidence were adversely affected in December by the threat of terrorist attacks.
Scott Mclellan downplayed the disappointing downturn.
"The economy is robust and getting ro-bustier but we must face the realities of a post-9/11 world, and the bottom line is The Enemy hates us for our jolliness....next question, please?"
