but I saw her on Charlie Rose a good while ago and he got all defensive when she started talking about corporate sponsorship ensuring there would be no energetic probe of malfeasance on a grand scale, of the pro-business slant to network news. He's got a great booker, but he's a bit slow in the cerebellum, methinks. Love Amy.

she was pretty much outnumbered by three other guests who think the media did a fine job in the run up to the Iraq war.
She read a couple of quotes from Rather and Jennings just before the war. I think it was Jennings she quoted as saying something like "We need to be careful about destroying Iraqs infrastructure because in a few days we will own it" and Rather as saying something like "He is my president and I will line up where ever he needs me" Then she commented that these are not the kind of statements that an unbiased media should make.
She wasn't on that long really and he only asked her a couple of questions.

Must have three pro-war guests on for every antiwar one. Fucking bastards. I think they just proved her point right there.

They had her on with three "white guys." The question was about network news coverage leading up to the war. As in did the networks do a good job?
Amy said, "No." Talked about how Rather and Brokaw served as cheerleaders for the administration.
The others disagreed. The only one I remember was Zelnik, formerly of ABC, now in academia. Said that nets couldn't possibly know that Saddam had no WMDs. Everybody, he said, thought he had the weapons. (He obviously didn't know about DU, and the millions who were marching in the streets.)
One of the others, said he gave the networks a 75% score, much better than other institutions. What garbage! Amy looked annoyed. They ditched her earlier than the others.
Of course, she was too good.

9. She's been through more action than all of them put together. |

Genuine investigative journalist. And it was Brokaw who said we can't break the infrastructure, we'll own it.
I hope Satan quotes it back to him often.

10. Listen to Zelnick. Did he miss a Repug talking point re: war buildup? |
|
As for Amy, do they use the word "cameo" for political talk show appearances?

Nor any other news on cable. The media is a co-conspirator for keeping these morons in office by not questioning shit. Fuck em.
