Poll question: If we MUST have a Theocracy...
What shall the official state religion we are all forced to join be?

Hmmm... I think that's all of them.

(And yes, this is a sarcastic question)

2. Other: Bring back the Roman pantheon.
We could rip out the statue of old Abe in the Lincoln Memorial and turn it into a Temple of Jupiter. And rename the Washington Monument in honour of Priapus.

6.  BokoNonism
live by the untruths that make one happy. Bokononistic sex is a union of two souls achieved by placing the soles of two people's feet together.

12. Because apparently...
god is a neurotically insecure extrovert who requires that we love him or suffer hell. Come to think of it, he sounds quite similar to a LOT of psychotic tyrants.

16. Hey, don't knock it
The Muslim Caliphate was the flower of the Earth during its time, and the Al-Andulus caliphates in Spain were some of the most racially and religiously tolerant and diverse cultures in the world's history, at times, not to mention the heighth of arts and sciences at the time. Without Muslim Spain's learning, Europe may have never emerged from the Dark Ages. We could do a lot worse.

In fact, right now we are doing a lot worse.

17. Pre-Inquisition Albigensian Dualism
Cool religion. Matter was created by an evil Creator god who trapped pure light inside the material bodies we inhabit. We are part matter, part spirit, and our goal is to avoid all material pleasures, from sex to french fries, in order to free the light within us. If we fail, the light moves to another body and gets to try again.

Of course, most people fail, and only a few Select have to actually obey any of these rules. They get to starve themselves to death to prove their purity.

Nice theocracy. As soon as the leaders are chosen, they have to fast, thus we get a turnover of religious nutcases every forty days or so, and they pretty much ignore us as lost causes, so we can do what we want.

Well, that's the way I'm setting it up, anyway.

19. Solipsism
Then everybody's happy.

Except when they're not. Then it's their own damn fault and I don't get the blame.
