1. My feeling on that is

since they rigged it to win for them, thus the cause for concern in the beginning, they fixed it to turn out in their favor

2. The 'mistakes' are intentional. And intentionally made to go in their

favor.

Like my kid when he says he made a mistake. Somehow his excuses all end up as mitigating factors as to why he shouldn't take the blame for whatever it was he did. Of course, it wasn't done 'on purpose'. It just ended up that way.
