Busted! Bought online prescription drug from Canada....Heads Up!
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 08:11 PM by caledesi
Well, I got a letter today from the "Border and Customs" agency basically saying they were confiscating my order. Oh yeah, they said the item will be destroyed in 30 days if they don't hear from me. (They had a form to fill out saying "destroy" this item).

I can't believe it! First of all I actually have a prescription for this drug.

They also sent some propaganda blurb saying "drugs ordered online are dangerous, may be fake ...blah blah."

Hey didn't we just get the flu vaccine from Canada? Say what?

I was shaking when I opened the envelope (thought I would go to jail).

I hate these bastards.

So DUers, don't order online from another country.

4. Wow, that really sucks!
Sucks to be living in a time when it's illegal to buy legal drugs as well.. just because the drug companies want to screw Americans big time! Just shows you who's running the country!

5. Well, if they destroy your order, then they need to look into
the business on Highway 27 that runs through Sebring, Florida which places orders for people for drugs from Canada. Their business is very obvious stating they order drugs from there. How can they do that in Florida if you can't order them yourself?

Will you be reimbursed for the online order?

6. I live in Tampa.
I have ordered before (maybe 6 months ago - no problem).

Yeah, I don't get it about the Sebring thing. Who knows w/ these crooks.

Reimbursed? Are you kidding? I was worried that I would be arrested.

7. Call the company.
IIRC, you can quite legally import up to a 90 day supply from Canada.

See if they can get them to kick it loose.

18. Yes, you can from any country really
and the fact that there is a legal prescription involved demands that this right be fought for.

9. I haven't had any problems
ordering from across the border. You need to get a copy of your prescription and send it to those asses. It's obviously an act of intimidation, and I would suggest, if you have a Democratic representative, to have them intervene on your behalf.

10. Wow, that sux...I am sorry you didn't get your 'script. We are heading
down to Mexico next weekend to get meds...a 3 1/2 hour drive, but
totally worth it. Pretty ironic that we Americans now look to foreign countries for reasonable trade prices as well as democracy these days,
thanks to Bushco.

12. That's messed up!
I'm sorry you had such a scare. I would have wet my pants. It's insane that they keep prices here in the US so high you can't afford to buy them and then pull something like this when you do what you have to do.

My dad has to order all of his meds from Canada. He just can't afford to buy them in the States. It's either order out of Canada or do without. He's 65 on SS and doesn't qualify for the Medicare prescription thing due to his 401k. Once he exhausts his 401k he will qualify, but then he won't be able to pay his bills. We have about 2 years before that happens, I'm hoping for a miracle before then.

I hope your dad's situation will improve.. It's a pity that the richest nation in the world is doing everything it can to deplete it's citizens of a decent life. I just dont see how things have gotten so bad! And how much worse will it get? How bad will it be before the other half of the nation get registered to vote to change things around??

15. What a bunch of crap!
So I guess going across the border and buying prescription drugs in Mexico is out also? My parents who live in AZ say lots of seniors go to Mexico to buy their meds. I'm sure that is true in Texas also.

29. You can buy from Mexico
I no longer order through the mails because I travel to Mexico often enough to get my drugs. Bring your Rx with you.

Just don't try to buy SCHEDULED drugs. No oxycotin or anything like that. But for real medicine, such as heart medicine, etc. you should be fine.

You are supposed to declare but if you have an Rx don't know if I would bother. I usually also buy a bottle of tequila and when they ask if I have anything to declare, I give them my bottle. They are not worried about strip-searching older folks for their medicine. Just give them something to make a note of and it should be fine.

19. Write them and demand your property.
Tell them you know it's at your own risk, but that you're 100% likely to get sick and die if you are forced to pay US prices that you can't afford and have to do without your medication. Send a copy of the letter to your local newspaper and to your local TV stations, along with a photocopy of their letter. Call your congresscritter (although if s/he's GOP, don't expect much). Oh, and don't forget to indicate on the bottom of your letter to customs that you are sending copies to the media.

I can see these sons of bitches intercepting stuff from Africa or from eastern Europe. But Canada?

I hate these fuckers. I really do.

But, I am afraid. I know, I am not supposed to be, but I want to stay "uynder the radar." I don't want them to have my name for further harassment.

21. That is disgusting!
I am so sorry for you!

ON a separate but similar issue, I was listening to the radio on my way to work yesterday and heard something about the American government is going to try to force Australia not to use generic (cheaper brand) meds? They say it is in violation of the FTA we have with one another. Even though they signed the FTA with the generic brand clause the Australian Labor Party got added.

This happened to me some years ago. I got my drugs. It just took awhile.

You can't go to jail unless you are ordering SCHEDULED drugs -- cocaine, valium, opiates -- you know the drill.
