Another threat of terrorism and violence from the Christian Right
This message was found on 'A Not So Pretty Picture', this group archives the idiotic and dangerous things Republicans say on Yahoo.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anotsoprettypicture

Here is one of the messages they have found.

"The role model of Malcom X is still valid and influential
today. He was endorsed by the US Musslim church and advocated
violence. He mellowed out and was murdewred for it by the Musslims.
Musslims are violent by nature and should be exterminated! All other
religions in the world need to be abolished in favor of Christianity,
the only true religion! Fundamentalism is not bad, misguided people
are who you speak of. Islam is the way of satan and therefore evil!"

2. That is not at all surprising to me
I have followed the underlying intent of the Radical Right-wing Religious Right, who have a lot at stake and a very concrete and treasonous plan for America.

Ethnic cleansing is not out of the question if that mindset continues to grow and influence our media, politics, and culture. It is extremist, dogmatic, and zealous. They don't call it Reconstructionist and Dominionist for nothing.

Persecution of various scapegoats is often the historical outcome of fundamentalist uprisings and dominance. Currently, we see three groups in their sights: Muslims, (or anyone who resembles the stereotype) homosexuals, and liberals. Later, there will be others, boiling down to schisms involving the concept of "sufficiantly Christian". It is more about self-rightiousness and power than the intended religiousity.

I am sure some people will consider my apprehensions as alarmist or extreme in themselves. However, if you study the overall platform behind the Christo-fascist agenda, then it should be clear that their goals are not minor and trivial, nor will they back down until their views are made law. They will either face staunch and relentless opposition from people who wake up and begin to understand the implications, or they will succeed via constant barrages within the poltical arena and other spheres.

If they succeed, then America will eventually become a Theocracy with all the implications of such. Mosaic Law is harsh and primative, to say the least.

I also take into consideration, full well, the Neocon, secular side of the Republican coupe, so to speak. They are in bed with the Fundies and have found that their belief-oriented mindset is easily manipulated by the new, improved propaganda of the corporately owned mass media, etc.

We are still at a juncture where that is somewhat debatable and action can prevent or forestall this transformation.

3. Absolutely.

That is the one promising aspect of this -- the dominionists and the neo-cons are natural enemies. The neo-cons are secular, and I believe they look at the fundies as ignorant tools. The dominionists will turn on the neo-cons in a second, even if they have not achieved their goals, if they stray from god's path. If we can work on wedging between the two factions, show how each is trying to use the other, we have a chance of breaking down their coalition.

6. I agree on your point!
In fact, that internal division looks like a potential Achillies heel.

I keep my eyes open for the potential schism. It could send some shockwaves though the camps and signs of hope to the secular and liberal.

The only problem is that one has to give just kudos for the adept,(in a sly, ruthless way) methodology of the Rovians at prediciting and pre-empting the behavior patterns of their sheeples. It is down to a science.

I would bet that any hint of a rift would have them forming focus groups and finding words to quell any tide of discontent.

I see a potential in that context, on our part, to "divide that house" and foment the split. I also see an opportunity for the Christian Left, if they start to comprehend what is at stake, to implement this goal.

This is a good place for stategies to emerge.

4. A friend of mine has a yoga and natural health center
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 09:45 AM by Ms_Mary
It was in the same plaza as my store. Things started out great but one of the local churches got very upset because the preacher's wife was learning belly dance there. They fired the preacher and she started getting hate mail accusing her of all kinds of crazy shit like teaching Hinduism, which is of the devil of course :eyes: and teaching women to be VAIN. You know, because she helps them lose weight and get fit. She has before and after photos in her studio and they said she had pictures of "half-naked people." She finally decided to move her store. It's insane and the thing is, she's a devout Christian herself, but apparently they don't believe you can be if you aren't fundie like them.

I've been very bummed over it. I was excited to see new ideas coming into the area, hoping enlightenment would follow. My husband tells me I set myself up for disappointment by expecting people to do the right thing.

I always have this optimistic idea that I can change things for the better, but the whole thing left me wishing I could just pack up and move. That's not an option, though. I've lived here my whole life and I'm not a fundie freak, there has to be hope somewhere.

5. I think there was a recent thread at DU
linking to a web site that talked about how doing yoga would invite evil spirits into your body. The timing was a coincidence. Before my friend's experience, I had no idea people believed crap like that. Reading the site that was posted here left me with my jaw hanging open. People are truly stupid.
