Sly and the Family Stone - Stand! --Passion we still need today
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 10:27 AM by LosinIt
I was just downloading some Sly & TFS and finally found a good source for Stand! my favorite song while I was in college. Used to drive everyone in my dorm crazy when I would crank it while getting ready for all of those 8AM labs. Here's the lyrics, brought tears to my eyes as I recalled the passion I had then, and still have today.

Stand! Sly and the Family Stone
Stand

In the end you'll still be you
One that's done all the things you set out to do
Stand
There's a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you're going anywhere
Stand
For the things you know are right
It s the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
Stand
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
You've been sitting much too long
There's a permanent crease in your right and wrong
Stand
There's a midget standing tall
And the giant beside him about to fall
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you're saying makes sense and all
Stand
Don't you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be

Everybody
Stand, stand, stand

3. Where did you find it...
to download? I would LOVE to hear to Sly & TFS right now. My fav is "Papa was a Rolling Stone" -- every element of that song is magic!

5. It's a service I bought MP3Downloading P2P Service
I think it was like $30-40/year. I figured it was worth it to find some old classics.

had to get some music for a project for my son's music class so I just bought it. I kind of forgot that I had it. Search it online.

10. Shameless kick for the weekday crowd
Now that I've heard this song again after probably 20 years, I can't get it out of my head. But, that's a good thing.
