Conservatives want to bring back HUAC

I remember hearing about HUAC years ago in a history class, and it sounded pretty bad!

11. I want to see what the other side is up to
It looks like they are up to no good! Whether it be on talk radio or on the Internet, hearing or reading the views of the right wing has made me much more liberal. It's people like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Pat Robertson, and Antonin Scalia who have made me a liberal Democrat!

2. Yeah the Red Scare
And Citizen's council. HUAC and the Senate counterpart were bad, but what were really terrible were local orginaztions related to the chamber of commerce or other local groups that would provide lists of locals who were "communists."

3. Witch hunt
that's what the House UnAmerican Activities Committee was. They persecuted many people, including writers and artists, much of it based on innuendo and rumor. People were intimidated into naming names to keep their jobs, etc.

4. Those aren't conservatives, those are freepers and the more idiotic sort
seeing as they want to bring back HUAC. What next? Prohibition? Slavery? Screwing over Native Americans? These were all very dark chapters of American history, and the fact that some freepers want to bring it back is evidence of their delusion. They're basically a bunch of fucktards, and I'd advise against listening to anything they have to say unless it's for entertainment purposes only. :D

7. We could have a lot of fun with HUAC if the Democrats controlled Congress
Subpeonas for the leaders of the Christian Colaition, Family Research Concil, conservative radio talk show hosts, CEO's of Halliburton and Wal-Mart, investigations of the AEI and PNAC.

10. HMmmmm. Maybe the LEFT should bring back the HUAC
We can indict and expose neo-cons and dominionists. The blood-thirstiness of the purge will give us the 'no-wimps' voters and the masses, now entertained by our public trials, will turn on their masters.

My pipe dream for the evening.

12. An organization that considered the KKK to be a "time honored tradition"
That is just creepy.

And Bush supporters wonder why we call them brownshirts and Nazis.

13. I read the signatures on the petitiononline site
Right now I'm sick to my stomach. Literally.

One guy wants to give the police the power to summarily execute liberals--for the crime of being liberal.

I'd kinda like to bring back HUAC with a slight difference: I'd put all of these people who are against free speech and a free press in front of it. The first three candidates: Jim Robinson of FreeRepublic, Ann Coulter, and Michelle Malkin.

Then Pigboy, followed by Bush.
