Do the Americans leave Iraq right after their election in January ?
Don't answer that. Of course, they won't. We have no idea when we will be able to get out of that mess. We have no idea how many more American troops "must" die. All that we know is that we have created hatred and violence that did not exist before. We have set the table for the civil war that is happening now.

The random violence has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis, many if not most of them, innocent victims. There would be a power vacuum if the US were to leave now. There would be random violence and bombs against the police establishment. Why the police? Because they are, and would be, the remnant force created from the American occupation and would never be accepted.

So we are stuck there under the illusion that we, and only we, can bring stability and peace to Iraq. The propagandistic illusion that we are fighting and dying so the Iraqi people can be free. Not realizing that they want to be free from us, we continue to kill and maim htose that would get between us and our mission. Meanwhile, families back in the USA, continue to grieve. Until some sane leader takes the reins from the maniacal perverts now in power, we are doomed to more nationalistic propaganda and death.

1. Maybe, but I am doubtful.
That would suggest a rational policy is being pursued, and my
impression as that we are pursuing a faith-based policy. Thus I
expect eventual military collapse and expulsion.

3. Strategic for military
Saudi Arabia needs us close but doesn't want more bases. Turkey doesn't want us to use their country either. With Iraq we now have the space for many military bases and air fields. Any unrest in the ME could have a terrible effect on all world economies. Something had to be done to create stability, but this bunch was/is far to ignorant on how or when. We have been ignorant and still are, causing too many to die. We don't even know how to talk to them!! At the end of the second WW we had thousands of bi-lingual people, who were able to make communication simple, not translators making many mistakes.

4. "Something had to be done to create stability..."
So do you think we have more "stability" now than before the invasion? Or do you expect to have the stability in the future? And if so, how much longer do you think it will be before we see this "stability"?

6. Nothing "had to be done". Nothing, nada, zilch, nothing.
And nothing bad would have happened had they refrained from this stupidity.

10. I believe there are a few. Don't have any names handy.
The swine at the top, of course, were and are all in favor of it.
When we lose Iraq, they will have to start explaining what all that
defense money was for, and their feckless incompetence in running the
country will lie exposed to the light of day.

8. I actually think Bush will try to leave.
The American public will be convinced that everything is fine, and the media will go right along with it.

The Iraqi's will be left with a demolished country. A civil war will probably start, and in the meantime, Bush will have declared it an American victory.

9. Even better
Get the newly "elected" gov't to demand we leave. And as long as we're in the neighborhood... shit, it'd be a shame to waste a perfectly good opportunity to liberate Iran...
