Anybody want to start some major shit? Wal-Mart Alert
Wal-mart is planning on building two (2) Supercenters in my neighborhood in Florida. There are already 3 within a 10-15 minute drive from me.

Ain't gonna happen. I'm planning on starting a major offensive to block them. I plan on running a very dirty, Karl Rove style campaign against them. I think I have an idea to split them from their customer base. I talked to a few people (Unions) today, about getting some funding, and I'm planning on talking to some Congressmen next month about opening a congressional investigation into violations of the Sherman Anti-trust Act.

I'd like to get started soon, and would like to take this national.

I'm looking for volunteers and advice. Feel free to send me a private message or e-mail.

1. Good for you!
Walmart is a blight on Mom and Pop operations. They wish to do away with American enteprenuers by selling cheap Chinese goods paid by slave wages to the Chinese. We need to take a stand.

4. WalMart finances Forced Abortions.
Edited on Mon Dec-06-04 02:17 AM by bvar22
The abortion thing is an issue that is selling with the fundies.

Through its business arrangements with China, WalMart is enriching a Communist Government that mandates abortions. I would love to see Fallwell and the Repub congress critters forced to take a position on WalMart's relationship with forced abortionists.

In fact, local WalMart pickets should get some of those gruesome fetus pictures that the cristoFascists use when attacking PlannedParenthood clinics.

Money spent at Wal-Mart is used to KILL God's Children!!

Do you want an ABORTION STORE in YOUR neighborhood?

You know those RePubs would squirm if their wallet is on the abortion table.

10. But repukes are HYPOCRITES
So shopping at Sprawl Mart, a US corp. that does business in a Country that has mandatory abortion probably won't bother them. I'm sure they'll have no problem making the disconnect between that and their wallets.

Of course, the fudies would never bite the hand that feeds them. That's what makes them such dangerous hypocrites.

12. 3,500 stores
Good luck. Walmart has over 3,500 stores in America so far. That tells me 3,499 attempts to stop them have failed.

18. It's the ones that don't exist that determine the success of the efforts
You have not taken account of the number of successful suits and zoning ordnances that prevented WalMarts from infiltrating a community. You're making the huge and false assumption that all of the existing stores were challenged and won.

But I guess you knew that. ;-)

Welcome to DU.

19. Half a kill here ... got the damned WalMart but no Sam's Club ... and
.... the WalMart parking lot is never ever, ever more than 1/4 full. And nope, they didn't build the lot large enough to accommodate a later Sam's Club addition. It simply gets crappy business.

21. We stopped them here in Michigan
They have a store here and a Sam's Club. They wanted another at the other end of town. We stopped 'em in their tracks. We organized and wouldn't let the zoning rules be changed for them. Key player was an 81 year old man who was a union organizer that worked with Walter Ruether.

25. We've kept it out of Boulder, CO.
And there are only two in the county, both of which are in the old, small formats and were built before they became the Evil Empire.

It can be done with a mobilized community.

13. Scandal: Wal-Mart, P&G Involved in Secret RFID Testing
http://www.spychips.com/press-releases/broken-arrow.html

Wal-Mart and Procter & Gamble conducted a secret RFID trial involving Oklahoma consumers earlier this year, the Chicago Sun Times revealed on Sunday. Customers who purchased P&G's Lipfinity brand lipstick at the Broken Arrow Wal-Mart store between late March and mid-July unknowingly left the store with live RFID tracking devices embedded in the packaging. Wal-Mart had previously denied any consumer-level RFID testing in the United States.

"It proves what we've been saying all along," says Katherine Albrecht, Founder and Director of Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering (CASPIAN). "Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble and others have experimented on shoppers with controversial spy chip technology and tried to cover it up. Consumers and members of the press should be upset to learn that they've been lied to."

The Sun Times also reported that a live video camera trained on the shelf allowed Procter & Gamble employees, sometimes hundreds of miles away, to observe the Lipfinity display and consumers interacting with it.

16. #8 WalMart
5th Supercenter is being built right now within a 15 mile radius of where I live. It would be #9 (6th Supercenter) but the people of Mt. Pleasant made them go away.

Of course, we have practically nothing left in this area for WM alternatives.

it.

Look up how Walmart failed in southern california, in compton or inglewood... one or the other.
