None of this has been in my name! I am one of the many Australian citizens in distress over what my country is doing in the name of war on terror.

I am so sorry! I didn't do enough to stop my country from taking part in this illegal war. That is something I will never forgive myself for.

This Christmas I will not be celebrating Christmas as such. Why? Because George W. Bush*, the man responsible for putting together the coalition of the idiots claims to be a Christian. There have been many reports of Generals in Iraq saying this is being done in the name of God and Jesus. I cannot celebrate Christmas while all these innocent children suffer from the murdering hands of the coalition. What I will be celebrating this Christmas is being with my partner for the first time in 2004.

Oh, and you bet I support the troops. I just don't support the murderous governments who sent them there.

6. When I saw these pictures...
...yesterday I just howled like a baby. The pictures of the children really did get to me.

The innocent people of Iraq is one thing which is bad enough, but these children, they are not Saddam or Osama, they are innocent children for crying out loud.

If this was happening in our streets, in our cities, in our countries, we would be right there fighting the occupying force to no end as well, because that force is killing our babies.

I look at my three (almost four) year old niece, and my five year old nephew, and I just cry knowing that they are going to grow up in a world with these images.

It breaks my heart when I think about a nuclear war breaking out and my sisters children not ever getting the chance to truly experience life. I pray every night that that kind of thing never happens.

I really hate Bush* too. And I am one who really doesn't like using the word hate like that at all.

4. I feel exactly the same.
I've no desire at all to be even remotely festive, and I have a 13 year old son and am torn. I don't want him to have a lousy holiday though. It truly sucks.

As to preventing the war, over ten million people demonstrated against the war in early '03. * reduced them to nothing more than "a focus group," and the MSM barely gave them notice.

As a life long pacifist, I've always been against the war but there was a strong sense that the chickenhawk neocons would prosecute the war come hell or high water. I thought at the very least it would be their downfall, and it still very well may be over time. They're war criminals and sooner or later the truth will come out. At what further expense, I can't even begin to imagine.

8. Yes it does need to be seen!

Sometimes I feel like throwing these pictures at the leaders of the coalition countries. They really don't give a shit because they are safe in their beds at night, behind their security. What security do these children have? NONE! Truly breaks my heart.

On eidt: I wanted to add: well if that is what right wing morality is all about, then I really don't want any part of morality what so ever.

10. Should be mandatory for president and cabinet family members to be
in the armed service AND active duty AND members of the ground forces.
If they want to make war for the sake of lining their pockets and the foreign nationals and corporations, then all of them should have THEIR children on the front lines.

12. Thanks for the kick, FB!
I was hoping this thread would have a little more impact than this, but I do understand people being burnt out by it. It really was just something I needed to do.

13. Yeah,I think a lot of us are burnt out by all this
There's so many things goping (that was a mistype, but seems like a good freudian slip!) wrong at once that it's hard to not just get this glazed over look in one's eyes and start to get numb to it all.But we have to keep this stuff at the forefront I believe...we have to keep shaking people.

14. I know exactly what you mean.
I had been staying pretty much out of the chat about the injuries and deaths in Iraq of late because I too had become really burnt out by it. It was just getting more and more depressing with each passing day. But the other day when I saw these pictures, I just broke down and cried. My reason for it was, because it is Christmas and I had been working towards organizing Christmas. And even though I know Muslims don't celebrate our Christmas, I do realize that among the casualties in Iraq there are many Christians as well.

We are going to be sitting down in just 18 days time to our Turkey dinners with our families, while the families in Iraq may not have food and most have been torn apart because of this damned illegal war happening in their country.

And this is the first time this war has had this kind of impact on me. I have experienced other emotions because of it, but nothing like this.

Thanks for listening FB. :)

20. Thanks FC It has Been A Rough Year For Me
My relationship blew apart last January and even though I'm trying to hang on and keep Peyton safe and happy I don't have much left.

When I found out Ben joined the Marines I went into total meltdown. Say a few prayers for this worn out Mommy.

Hope you and Sapph have a great joyful time together. You two deserve the happiness. Where are you in OZ BTW? My best friend lives in Bondi Beach. She is in Dubai now but keeps her house there.

21. Gee girl, you really have had it hard!
I certainly will say a prayerfor his mum as well. :)

Sapph and I will have a good time together, I am sure of that. We aren't really going to be doing much this trip. Basically going to travel to see my family just after Christmas, then head back just into the new year, because I have to head back to work. But my hours won't be so bad. Due to arthritis in my ankles, I am on restricted work capacity, so I only work a max of 15 hours a week (apart from next week when I am pulling a lot of shifts because the silly season is our busiest time.)

I'm in Melbourne. I live in one of the beach side suburbs of Melbourne, and absolutely love it here. What more could an Aussie ask for than to be with in a ten minute walking distance of the beach?

You hang in their girl!

I want to send this to everyone I know, because they need to know what they have wrought by their silence.
