Bush: 'Terrorists Still on the Move'
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 11:32 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Monday an attack on the U.S. consulate in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, showed that ``terrorists are still on the move'' and trying to intimidate Americans.

``They want us to grow timid and weary in the face of their willingness to kill randomly, kill innocent people,'' Bush said.

One American was slightly injured in the assault. A State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the American's injuries were slight, and apparently sustained during an evacuation of American personnel.

All American employees were able to reach a safe area inside the compound, the official said.

Bush spoke in the Oval Office after meeting with Ghazi al-Yawer, the interim Iraqi president.

Bush thanked Saudi Arabia for quelling the attack, and said, ``We will find out more about who caused the attacks.'' He said he was confident Saudi Arabia would share information with the United States.

He said the attack showed that terrorists want Americans to leave both Saudi Arabia and Iraq and ``remind us that the terrorists are still on the move.''

4. Who is surprised that Bush hasn't vanquished terror? Besides Bush.
He says these things like they are huge, insightful prounouncments that are supposed to give us confidence that he is on top of things.

All it tells me is that occasionally someone tells him what's in the paper.

6. Translation: We gotta smite Iran
and anybody else who happens to be in the way of desired pipeline routes.

Alternate translation: Unca Dick isn't answering the phone in his undisclosed location and we don't know where the hell the SOB is.

9. Currently Reading "Banking on Baghdad" By Edwin Black
It is a concise 7000 history of Iraq focusing on those aspects of Iraq that have shaped and molded what it has become today.

What strikes me in the history is the whole concept of Terror. Terror in that part of the world is nothing new. Good examples go back to the Mongol invasion of Mesopotamia. Every time the mongols sacked a city they would kill every inhabitant. The last time Baghdad was sacked some 800,000 citizens were butchered by the Mongols.

Besides being a good read, the point to all this is that Bush has been allowed to morph Terrorism into a mandate when in reality Terrorism is nothing new. It is as old as the sands of time. And even more true in the middle east.

10. He lets Saudi Arabia repeatedly attack us without reprisal
and shrugs off their aggression with the explanation that we must ignore them because they want to "affect our will" or "weaken our resolve." OTOH, he says we must pre-emptively attack a nation which never attacked us, and did not demonstrably have the capability of doing so, because they posed an imminent threat to our safety.

He justifies the indefensible with a totally illogical inference.

11. Terrorists on the move
Wasn't that the name of the 5th or 6th Police Academy movie?

Grow weary? I grew weary of the war on terror sometime around Sept 12th.
