The Pat Tillman Story
Earlier today I was wondering what the news that he died of friendly fire would do to the fact that he was awarded a silver or bronze star for his actions in Afghanistan. I did doubt that the medal would be taken away in that Jessica Lynch was also awarded a silver star for her actions in Iraq. I am somewhat still wondering why the media is bringing up this story in that I thought it had come out earlier this year that Tillman was killed by friendly fire. Does anyone know if there is additional information that has come out recently that was not put out earlier?

1. I think it might be coming up now because the family is
mad that the information regarding how he was killed was held from them for PR reasons.

McCain is also involved in helping the family get the facts from the Pentagon. What did they know and when did they know it, type stuff.

3. "Pat isn’t with God. He’s fucking dead."
Already there are some conservative-minded folks out there trying to tie Tillman’s story into their personal views on patriotism, honor, and God and so it wasn’t without some amusement that I read of Rich Tillman’s comments to the crowd that had gathered at the memorial service. Reportedly his full comment was along the lines of:

"Pat isn’t with God. He’s fucking dead. He wasn’t religious. So thank you for your thoughts, but he’s fucking dead."

6. Of course there are liberal commentators
Who tried to use Pat Tillman's death as well. Re: Ted Rall.

2. more details are being given
It's a pretty painful mess to read about.

The last minutes of Pat Tillman's life were a horror of misdirected machine-gun fire and signals to firing colleagues that were misunderstood as hostile acts, according to an account published Sunday of the death of the NFL player-turned-soldier.

It took the Army a month to change the record to show that Tillman, the Arizona Cardinals defensive back who gave up a $3.6 million contract to become an Army Ranger, was killed last April not by Afghan guerrillas but by his Ranger colleagues.

Even then, the statement by Lt. Gen. Philip R. Kensinger Jr., head of the Army's Special Operations Command, gave few specifics of the corporal's death and implied that he was trying to suppress enemy fire when he ``probably died as a result of friendly fire.''

...snip...

The complete link isn't pasting here well, but you can get to it from yahoo's nfl news site:

7. Hey, does anyone know
of a link to this story, with Mary Tillman being vocal and asking questions? I saw it on several news shows yesterday, but I'd like some more detailed info on it.
