Law Experts Debate Md. Gov.'s Reporter Ban - Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-4657039,00.html

so, the sun...maryland's largest paper is taking our pathetic repuke gov to court over his gag order to his staff to not talk to the sun.

it kills me how these repukes think that when they dont like what is being reported they attempt to kill the messenger and stonewall, etc etc etc....!

BALTIMORE (AP) - Constitutional law experts and attorneys are debating whether Maryland's governor violated the freedom of speech of two newspaper reporters when he banned state officials from talking to them.

The (Baltimore) Sun has filed a lawsuit against Gov. Robert Ehrlich in federal court, calling the order a ``blatantly unconstitutional gag order.''

The governor contends he's merely fighting back against inaccurate reporting, saying he intended to have a ``chilling effect'' when he ordered officials to stop giving information to columnist Michael Olesker and State House bureau chief David Nitkin.

On Monday, a constitutional law expert said the Republican governor probably had the legal right to tell his officials how to deal with the media.
